    Yoga Alliance is an organization that is attempting to uphold standards for the yoga industry. However, they do not have any basic policies to ensure compensation for the yoga profession, or guidelines for work-trades, etc., which are the foundations of creating a high integrity profession. If you think about how Traditional Chinese Medicine was created, committees were formed to standardize specialized wisdom from unique Daoist lineages, which has created an inferior practice of this medicine that does not even acknowledge "shen," the spiritual healing aspects. Yoga Alliance seems to mirror this episode of history, by trying to adhere standardization of yoga trainings when yoga is infinitely varied and unique in authentic techniques and practices. Furthermore, authentic yogis, such as Paramahansa Yogananda's Self-Realization Fellowship, Vasant Lad, Remete Shandor, Robert Svoboda, David Frawley, and others are not registered with Yoga Alliance; these individuals are legitimate yogis that were initiated in India and Nepal, the roots of yoga. Would anyone argue that they are not authentic yogis because they are not buying into Yoga Alliance industry standardization? Yoga Alliance does not regulate the basics of worker compensation, are attempting to standardize and inherently degrade the rich variation of yoga traditions, and gain funds through annual registration dues to fund their workers' yoga outreach. I am not a supporter.
