work was done on my car to replace the transmission and when i returned it then had an engine problem that it had never had before. My check engine light was in and the entire car hand a vibration that it had NOT had before. We took the car back and told them we wouldn’t take it since it did not have that problem when we brought the vehicle there. They called today it was fixed and ready and was going to be an additional $200 to the $3000 already paid because it needed spark plugs. They never called to let me know the issue or to ok them to have the work done. Or to give me the price of the service. According to the law they are not to do work without notifiying me of the price etc. when I went to pick up my car they said none of this mattered I still owed the money?

This 2018 Ford Escape was bought in for a Transmission rebuild. Upon completion, the vehicle was test drove and the technician said it had a misfire in the engine (vibration). We called the customer and told her that the transmission job was completed, and that the vehicle had a misfire in the engine that they needed to get looked at by whoever that's does their engine work. The plugs had never been replaced and sometimes other issues(transmission) probably caused stress on the engine causing the misfire. When the vehicle was picked up they left and came back and said they didn't want to drive the vehicle like that because it was a long drive home. They left the vehicle there to repair, therefore giving us permission to work on it. They also called the next morning and was told that we was installing plugs and would call them when it was done. The charge was for the plugs and labor.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I did go to pick up my car that Friday and I informed them my car didn’t have a misfire issue prior to bringing them my car and I have a screenshot of my car only having transmissions issues on my husbands code reader machine. I did take my car back to them that Friday because there was no way I would be able to get my car home in the condition that it was returned to me, however, I never once gave permission for additional work to be completed, **** told me he was going to have a buddy look at it to figure out exactly what was wrong with the car. I didn’t hear from the business that following Monday so I called them on Tuesday and asked what the status was of my car. **** told me that he still wasn’t sure what exactly was wrong with it and that they were still looking it over. He never once stated they were going to be putting plugs in it nor again did he ask for my permission to do the job. I don’t feel as though I should be responsible of paying for labor that I never approved of. I also shouldn’t be responsible for a ticket that he got in my car while he had it out test driving it.  Regards, **** ******
