    I booked my wedding at Monroe Bay Winery on Dec 10th I put a $500 deposit down. No contract was given that day nor was anything signed. I only got a receipt of payment. We went back Jan 22nd to discuss plans. Thats when she had us sign a paper. Then the contract was handed to us after we signed the paper. Not once was the contract gone over. We never even initialed the pages like the contract states because we never went over it there with her. Once we got home we looked and saw everything and the additional cost of things. On Jan 22nd my mom also paid for rehearsal dinner/ set up time in full. $500 for 5 hours. It wasnt a deposit because my mom asked what the deposit was. **** said you just pay the $500 for the 5 hours. Now that weve cancelled (Jan 29th) due to my fiancs step dad's poor health then all of the things on the contract/ invoice that were never spoken of. We got concerned that wed spend more than we could afford and risk. We were told on Jan 22nd that the final headcount payment wed pay 30 days before for wedding and rehearsal. I got the invoice on Jan 27th (cancelled Jan 29th) it shows half due Feb 3rd a week after the invoice was sent. Then the final payment was due March 24th (wedding June 24th) with that including our guest count. Completely different than what she told us. We thought wed pay the headcount 30 days out like she said. Not with the rental fee. We also were completely unaware of the added fees until we received the contract and invoice. Nothing was gone over with us. they are saying none of the money is refundable. Im shocked my mom cant get anything back when she never received a contact or signed anything and had just paid 7 days before. The contact states if another event of equivalent is booked wed get 50% payments back. When I asked I was told that wed only get half back if we had paid in full and if they rebooked another event for that date. Then said we didnt pay in full so we wouldnt be able to get anything back.
