We apologize for the delay in completing your repair request.  The subcontractor was scheduled to come out on 7/22 and then again on 8/5 when we found out he did not show up as expected.  We have contacted him and explained the urgency, and he has assured us that he will take care of this today.  *************************, Production Coordinator, will follow up to ensure repair is completed satisfactorily.

10/21/22: Job to install a metal roof w/drip edge was completed and paid in full at the full contract price ($5608, not including building permit; Job #V22323) with LifeTime Roofing/VA Carolina Builders. During the job, the installer notified me that he couldn't install casing around the wood perimeter of the roof line because it wouldn't look good; I told him I trusted his judgement but was concerned the bare wood perimeter would not be wrapper as I wanted. That same day after the installers had departed, I contacted RoofTime (via text message) to ascertain what credit would be issued for work (labor and materials) paid for but not performed, even if for a presumably good reason. Their response was that the trim package is standard, so no credit would be issued. I followed with a letter to the home office on 10/31. No response by 11/18/22, so I sent a second letter to the home office (Cc to BBB) requesting the courtesy of a reply to my first letter. As of the date of this BBB complaint, there has been no response from LifeTime. I am seeking a partial refund for work that was paid for but not performed, or preferably that they return to the worksite and install the casing.

The contract did not include the facia trim. No refund will be issued as the work that was contracted for was completed.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The response says that the fascia trim was not included in the contract, but it was and I was specifically told by the installer on-site that he wasn't going to do it. He was hard to understand due to his accent, but what I understood was something about a gap that would be left if he did it. I knew he didn't have the authority to address a credit so I simply told him I would contact the office to discuss. Thereafter, the company rep ******* confirmed via 10/24/22 text message "(sic)The trim package is standard there's no charge added on for any of it however in some cases the application is different so there wouldn't be a credit of any kind," which clearly implies the trim package is a standard item in the package that I paid for but didn't get. While I don't disagree applications are different, the company inspected the property in order to give me a price estimate that I agreed to and that would have been the time to tell me they couldn't case it. Pre-job, I explicitly asked that the job be completed in the same manner as the job they did for me two years prior on another house, which included the casing, and told them I wanted the wood covered so I wouldn't have to climb up a ladder to paint.

Common sense says that if the casing is included in the standard package then there are both labor and material costs associated with those items, so if the labor/material is not expended, a consequent credit should be issued.

It's not clear what more documentation you need as the contract and cancelled check and prior direct correspondence with the company were attached to the original complaint.
