We just visited Fun Time Amusements while they were here in ********** **, on April, 14th, 2024. We were excited to visit until we were treated differently than others. The person running the strawberry ride let several babies on who were below 32 inches. A major safety concern especially since he acknowledged that the babies were below 32 inches as we witnessed their height being checked and he allowed them anyways. We were next in line at the same time this occurred, we were turned down and he wouldn’t allow me to hold my baby, we also weren’t given the opportunity to check his height. I checked his height at a neighboring ride as I felt this wasn’t fair and that the baby he allowed on and the others he allowed on, were indeed the same size or smaller than mine. I was correct, my baby passed above the mark. The same mark he was using to let others ride anyways that were below the 32 inch mark. Him checking them was pointless because he let them on anyways. The woman even looked at him a joked she wouldn’t tell anyone he let her kid on. An many others had comments thanking him because they knew he was supposed to say no. I brought this to the ticket woman’s attention as it upset me that not everyone was being treated equally and that was wrong as well as not following correct safety protocols especially for babies. Makes you wonder how safe any of their rides really are. The ticket woman had a nasty attitude and didn’t seem to care, the owners one of which who was making funnel cakes, was disrespectful as well and didn’t care and dismissed me and tried to make excuses and push me off onto the ticket woman again. If he was a owner and took pride in the business you’d think he’d handle the situation and enforce safety.
Not following the correct safety protocols or the height measurements, as well as having several no smoking signs and the employees were smoking in the booths where you are to take your children to play games. I feel our time and money was wasted.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/01/2024

To Whom it may concern,   I am writing in replying in response to your concerns stated from your visit to our business on April 14, 2024.  As we are a mobile business, we are not present in our home office daily, and thus, do not have access to USPS mail frequently whereas the delay in this reply.  After looking into this matter further, I am disappointed in the response you were given, and that I was not personally informed of this as it was taking place.  There was only a few brief times during that day that I was off site handling company business, or I would have handled this personally on site.  After reviewing this matter with my ride operator, there were opposing views on this matter as he was fairly new to our company, nonetheless, appropriate actions in house have been taken to avoid such a scenario from happening again.  I am not sure why you referred to the gentleman in the funnel cake unit, as he only handles the food aspect of our operation, not the rides portion. I have also had a lengthy discussion with the ticket booth operator on customer responses, and having recently become a widow, she is still adjusting to getting back to work which may have had some bearing on her response level towards this complaint.  However, we, like many other small businesses are having a difficult time finding employees, and with that, that particular day, we were several staff members short which made our break rotations delayed at times, which is most likely why you saw an employee smoking in public view.  While I am not endorsing this action, you cannot be everywhere at once every minute of operation, and since then I have had an updated smoking policy put into place for our staff. I do, however, disagree with your quote of "It Makes You Wonder How Safe Any Of Their Rides Really Are". I think this was an unfair, and unfounded statement as you had an unpleasant experience at one attraction, and passed judgement on our operation as a whole. ***** ******** is one of the most stringent amusement safety enforcement states in the country, and all rides are thoroughly inspected before use by state inspectors at each location setup before operation.  All rides passed all required safety and compliance protocols issued by the state prior to this operation. We are not a fly by night type operation, but a reputable entertainment company, and have a proven track record of efficiency.  Not withstanding your experience with the Strawberry Ride, did you utilize any other attractions that day, and if so, I ask to know how you arrived at a $74 refund amount request for being turned down at one attraction. Did you purchase armbands for unlimited rides, or individual tickets? Were you not able to participate on any other rides as well? We entertained several thousand guests that week, and this is the only negative comment we have received out of that event. Please advise, and I will be glad to reply to your response as soon as possible.Sincerely, ***** *******, GM
