      I purchased a used upright from Christine’s Piano for a significant sum of money. It came with a ten-year warranty and one free tuning. The first time I had the piano tuned by my own tuner, he told me that the piano had serious structural damage that was "extremely unusual for a high quality piano" and would prevent it from being kept in tune. The structural damage includes numerous sound board cracks, rib separation, and a splintered and cracked bass bridge. He also noted mouse urine staining inside the piano, showing it had been improperly stored and maintained in the past.
      Given the extensive damage, the piano is clearly not worth anywhere close to the amount of money that I paid for it. I contacted Christine and asked to return it for a refund. She refused, and claimed the warranty doesn’t cover any of the damage. She offered to exchange the piano for another piano of the same make and model—if I paid her another $5,000, because the other piano was in “better condition.”
      I do not recommend that anyone shop from this business. At the very least, do yourself a favor and have any piano from this business thoroughly inspected by your own independent piano technician before you make an offer.
