This is an awful service. I had a hold on my account and they paused my transcript. When I removed the hold they did nothing. Their customer service line is monotonous and almost impossible to get through to, and their customer service phone hours are only 2-6pm. Their email customer service has a plethora of problems too. I am in a time crunch and dependent on their "2-5," day service and it seems like this will never get done on time or at all. If you decide to host such an important function, why do it so abysmally? Is the company going under? Has it always been like this? I don't think there is much surprise that the average rating is a 1.21, a high estimate if you ask me.

If I could give less, I would. I received a link for my transcripts but I could not view them. The error message advised clicking a link to download Adobe (paid subscription). I’ve NEVER had an issue opening even secure PDFs on my computer and I already have Adobe. The AI chat bot kept suggesting I read articles to solve the problem. When I asked the bot for a number to talk to a live rep, the response was that there it had no phone number to give me for live support and then suggested more articles to read..,..about why the up-to-date Adobe on my computer could not read the transcripts. To date, I’ve not been able to access my transcripts and I have received a notice from NSC that soon I will no longer be able to retrieve them. Like others I’ve read here, the transcripts is critical for a job. Now in the absence of a human to help, I’ll need to try another …..maybe Parchment - their reviews seem to be consistently higher.

This is the worst transcript site I have ever used in my life. This is a scam and colleges should be barred from forcing students to use it. This is a disgusting fraud that never works always crashes and makes my life a living hell as a student. I would cut off my left arm if it would convince my school to use parchment. I am disgusted with this service and it is ruing students lives around the nation.

National Student Clearinghouse is an absolute joke ! I ordered a copy of my transcript which they promised to get to me in 3 - 5 business days. I urgently needed it for a possible job offer. After over a month, I still didn't receive my transcript and lost out on a new job. When I asked to cancel and refund my transcription order, they claimed they couldn't do it. I had to contact my university Registar office who were non-responsive. They continued to process and charge me for my transcript order ($13.50). While it is not a big amount, their incompetency and unprofessional is what irks me the most.

Customer satisfaction is very important to National Student Clearinghouse, and we apologize that your experience was not what you expected. The Clearinghouse maintains the ordering platform for students from many participating colleges and universities to order their transcripts however, each school is the repository for the academic records and, therefore, is the entity that processes and fulfills the transcript order. The total cost of a transcript includes the fee the school charges for the transcript, the delivery method, and a small processing fee for each recipient. Therefore, refunds must be approved by the sending school.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention - we are contacting the school on your behalf to request a refund and will use this as a coaching opportunity to improve the service we provide. We will alert you via email on next steps.

Pissed that I'm now being arbitrarily charged $13 for a glimpse at a pdf proving my degree's existence. This kind of service is easily offered by universities for free (and it WAS free until my school partnered with SCH), as students have already paid tremendous sums of money for their degree. Unnecessary middleman businesses like Student Clearinghouse should be ashamed of their own existence. It doesn't cost anywhere near $13 to share a digital document with someone. This is a straight up ransom.

To offer DegreeVerify? — the nation’s source for accurate degree data, thousands of schools in the nation realize that the National Student Clearinghouse, a non-profit organization, needs to charge a fee to offset the time and expense to create and upkeep the verification technology that helps institutions focus on their mission and to support students. Because of the Clearinghouse’s DegreeVerify service, we quickly support millions of students needing their degrees verified for employment and postsecondary education opportunities.
Colleges and Universities have authorized the Clearinghouse to act as their agent for degree and enrollment verifications because they want the Clearinghouse to provide this service, manage the technology and staff, and the expense to perform verifications. The Clearinghouse serves as a trusted, legal agent to our participating institutions by facilitating the exchange and understanding of student enrollment, performance, and related information while protecting student privacy. In addition, any student or alum may contact their college registrar to discuss their verification needs.

Some random colleges from boston university and syracuse university showed up when i never even been to boston before. It’s holding up my application process. I had to call these schools to request to send a proof that i didn't attend these schools. Waste of my time and making my application process harder than it already is. How do they even manage their system?
