    In May, 2024, we signed a contract with Rodney Thornton, owner of XCeLL Home Repairs and Property Maintenance. This was based on his impressive work we had seen on another property. Finding no online reviews, we had no idea that the project he estimated for one week would still not be completed in December 2024.
    Despite a long series of broken promises about upcoming work days and excuses for no-shows, we foolishly made the final payment after dark in June when he said the work was done, he needed the payment for another project, and promised to return quickly to correct any issues we might find in the daylight. Parts of the project we had seen completed before then were acceptable. However, daylight did reveal several areas of unacceptable work, with a patchwork of roughly cut pieces and large amounts of adhesive to fill in gaps between sections that should have been mitered or at least cleanly connected. Since June, we have sent Mr. Thornton pictures of the unacceptable work and repeatedly asked him to return to make the corrections. He has again alternated between promises to return, no shows, and silence, even after our message to him in October informing him of the additional action that we planned to take if the work was not completed by the end of the month. We informed Mr. Thornton that we had received a quote from another contractor to correct the work for $640. Mr. Thornton said that he would pay no more than $350, so we gave him the extension into November which he said would be adequate. Since there was no communication from Mr Thornton for the following six weeks, we submitted online reviews and filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and DPOR . We believe that Mr. Thornton is indeed skilled, but is completely unreliable and willing to perform work that is far from acceptable, let alone excellent, as promised in his company name. We also believe that his commitment to overlapping multiple projects contributed to our regrettable experience.
