On or about 5 February 2025 Kashone Richburg of Kash’s custom and mobile Repair at **** ******** *** ********* *** ***** informed my daughter ******* **** and myself that her vehicle ( 2004 Ford Expedition) needed a starter. He stated he needed her to purchase the part because he was having some financial troubles and he couldn’t but the part. I loaned her the money to give to him to get the part. I spoke with him via cell phone and he assured me after replacing the starter the vehicle would run. He made contact with me stating the started had been replaced and asked for the remainder of the money for labor (119.00). I told him that I would pay for the labor after we made sure the vehicle was running . He then stated I believe it may need a fuel pump because it won’t start and that would be an additional $500. I told him I would not pay him anymore money if the vehicle wasn’t running. When I arrived at the shop he showed me that the vehicle would not run. I asked him to give us the key so we could have the vehicle towed away. He refused to give us the key and stated that we would be charged a storage fee for everyday the vehicle sat on his lot. We paid him the additional 119 to get the key. We had to pay $40 to have the vehicle towed. We are attempting to collect $159 from him for the labor and tow fee.

This Is The Customers Parent That Has been Messaging me . The customer who owns the vehicle contacted me because she said her vehicle would not start and was making a grinding noise  from the vehicle and she thought the alternator had went bad because the vehicle stopped running while she was letting it warm up. Upon going to where the vehicle was located I observed that part of the no start issue was the starter solenoid was spinning and was grinding and not turning/cranking  over the engine to attempt to start. I then advised the customer that the starter would need to be replaced before any further diagnostic could be done. The customer signed and agreed to the work needing to be done. I advised the customer before starting the repair that I would need a deposit in the amount of 145.34 before tax for parts before I would start the repair . The Customer Agreed and The Starter was Replaced . After Getting the starter replaced I then attempted to crank the vehicle and it was now turning over and cranking but would not run without starter fluid I also observed that the fuel pump was not priming or engaging. I then informed the customer who agreed that it needed a fuel pump but she did not have the funds to do it. I then offered a payment plan in order to get her vehicle fixed as long as the fuel pump was paid in full. After speaking with the customer she told me her mom would come and talk to me . ******* The Customers Mom Arrived At My Shop being very belligerent and hostile demanding that I give her The key to her Daughters  Vehicle and I responded I cannot let the vehicle leave or give the key until payment for the work that was done was received. ******* Then verbally Threatened me and told me she would take legal action. I assured her that if that’s what she felt was necessary then she had the right to do so. After That She Paid The remaining balance and I allowed her to remove her daughters vehicle from the property and I have not heard anything from the customer or her mom until today when she started sending me messages and threatening me again with legal action. Again I assured her that i had no problem with honoring any Warranty Work For the Starter That Was Approved And Paid For But, I would not refund for parts or labor due to the fact the work was authorized to be done by the customer , and the parts are non -refundable after installed.  I also advised the customer before any work was that part of diagnosing a no start issue is that the engine needed to be able to crank and that’s why I couldn’t give her a definite answer of the No-start issue when the starter was faulty it needed to be repaired first and the work was approved. The bottom line is the vehicle needed multiple repairs from negligence of maintenance and the starter needed to be repaired also. I do not feel I should refund for a service that was needed , customer approved , and done 100% correctly on my end. I am very sorry that an agreement could not be reached with the customer or her parent but I assured her if they needed my services further that they are welcome to come by .

    1. I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  2. I personally spoke with Kashone Richburg, whom stated he was running low on money so he needed us me and my daughter to buy the part. He assured me that once he put the part on the vehicle would be running. The issue was not fixed, he never said anything to me about a diagnostic test. He refused to give me the key until I paid him for a vehicle that was not running and he threatened me with a storage fee if the vehicle stayed on his lot any longer further escalating the situation. He also stated that if I knew so much about fixing vehicles why didn’t I do it myself. To de escalate I paid the money got the key and had the vehicle towed away from his area of operation without any further incident.i decided to give him an opportunity to think about his actions using a business mind set so I reached out to him on Monday Feb 17 th. I tried to work it out with him by asking for $119 plus the tow fee of $40 however he refused. 3. The receipts that he printed were never signed before or after the work. I will pursue this further very dissatisfied with the way he handled  this transaction.  I was directly told by Kashone Richburg that once he replaced the starter the vehicle would be running. Then after the vehicle would not start he told me he had to spray starter fluid on it and he believed it needed a fuel pump. No reputable car repair shop would make guestimations.  I filed this motion because I paid for this service.
