      On friday, November 1st, 2024. I received a check for my tax refund in the mail. On the same day (11/01/2024) I deposited the check at my bank, beacon credit union and was given a receipt showing 18th as the day I would be able to withdraw and pay my bills. I remember pleading with them that day for some amount of money to be made available a bit sooner, especially as my sister is currently undergoing treatment for cancer and we are short on food with medical and other bills piling. On the 18th when I went to make withdrawals and pay bills at the bank, I was treated with an extreme level of condescension while they made me feel like an illiterate woman who can't possibly do anything without the help of a man. To further compound my humiliation, the cash I withdrew from the atm was collected from me and the lady ordered that I bring my tax documents before I can access money to feed my family and pay my bills. Today, I sent in my tax documents and followed up at the branch. Even today, I faced the same degree of humiliation, I was spoken down to, like a child and I was made to wait for hours.

      Beacon.  Beacon has reason to believe
      this check is fraudulent, and that you may be victim of a scam.  Under Regulation CC’s Reasonable cause to
      doubt the collectability, it allows us to hold this check, as we have discussed
      with you.   Until Beacon receives
      confirmation of the validity of these funds, a hold will remain on the entire

      I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
      Your claim that there is suspicion that the check might be unpaid is totally unreasonable and baseless. To begin with, this check was issued by SBTPG, a reputable tax company which you called to verify and they did verify that the check was validly issued to me. Second, when i deposited this check on the first you placed a hold until the 18th, was the purpose of that hold not to verify the validity of the check? To make things worse when I was at the branch on Wednesday I was told you wanted to call the IRS and verify and I would have my money today being Friday. You guys have called the IRS, the IRS have verified everything checks out correctly. So why then do you unreasonably withold money from me and my family? Considering the additionally inhumane treatment suffered today at the hands of beacon credit union. I want to have my banking relationship moved to a different bank.

      I have power of attorney for my dad and they keep making me jump through hoops to try to pay off my dads account which is making his account go unpaid because my dad is ill. I only want to pay my dads account off and they keep saying one more form, and after I satisfy that form, they tell me they need to snail mail me another form. This is ridiculous, I sent them the POA document, then a notarized document stating that I am who I am and they are still refusing to grant me access to do anything with my Dads account.

      Power of Attorney documentation on 5/2/2024.   Upon review and
      approval of the Power of Attorney, you were sent the POA Agents Certification
      form that is required to be signed and submitted back to us before we can add
      the named Power of Attorney to the account.   We see from notations
      on the account that we received this on 5/2/2024 and you were added as the
      Power of Attorney on this account at that time.   At this time, you
      should have access to your father’s accounts based on the outlined Power of
      Attorney documentation.   Please do not hesitate to reach out to us
      if you have any additional concerns.

      Paid off my car loan , but still continues to take 213.64 out of my checking account

      Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to research this
      issue further.  Our research shows that you had set up an incoming ACH
      payment from your account with *********.  You paid your loan in full on
      4/12/24.  After the date of payoff and closure, Beacon Credit Union
      received a payment from ********* on 4/30/24, this was remitted back to you in
      the form of an official check that was mailed on 5/1/24.   As this is
      an automatic payment you have established with *********, you will need to work
      with them to discontinue the recurrence of this payment being remitted to
      Beacon Credit Union.

      We have reviewed the loan account for Mr. ***** and show
      that this loan was paid and closed on 3/8/24.  Credit reporting agencies
      are updated by Beacon Credit Union at the end of each month for any activity
      that has taken place during the month.  The payoff and closure of
      this account will be reported with end of March reporting.  The updated
      information should show on Mr. ***** credit report within 30 days from time of
      reporting to each credit reporting agency.

      Beacon Credit Union approved loan for my son, I co-signed for. After the loan officer told my son to go purchase the car on 3.9.23 from ******. He was suppose to go to Beacon the next day to get the check for the loan. At first he was supposed to go at 12, then told to come at 5. Around 4:30 the manager call my son and told him the car didn’t appraise enough.

      Upon review of the received complaint, Beacon Credit Union
      conducted additional research.  The member had been approved for two
      vehicles prior to the March purchase, the member did not move forward with the
      purchase of these vehicles.  For the purchase that took place in March,
      the member was asked to bring in buyer’s orders, which is a required document
      for the application process.  When the buyer’s orders were presented on
      3/10/23, the amount of vehicle purchase exceeded the lending guidelines for loan-to-value.  
      A counter-offer was made to the member, which he declined.  The member’s
      decision to decline Beacon’s counter-offer, resulted in the inability to
      complete the requested loan.  The required notice explaining this reason
      is being sent to the member.
