Around February 21st Cenvar Roofing was working on my neighbors home. I let them use my car port to park their cars. I should have never done this because they ran over the wood and essentially ruined it. What annoys me most is the fact that I literally had to go and confront their crew about who was going to take accountability, if i didn’t catch them doing it they wouldn’t have done anything. Long story short, their repair job was terrible because they’re a roofing company and also like to cut corners. I want them to actually fix this right and handle this how a business should vs avoiding me.

Hello,Attached is a photo taken by our Project Coordinator (PC) on the day of the incident reported by Mr. ******. As soon as the railroad tie was moved by our crew, they promptly informed their PC, *********** then knocked on Mr. ******’s door to explain the situation and provided his business card for any follow-up. Upon assessment, the crew repositioned the railroad tie, as there appeared to be no significant damage or need for additional corrective action, based on the attached image.Following the incident, Mr. ****** submitted a formal complaint via email. In response, ***** made multiple attempts to contact Mr. ****** by phone to discuss the matter further, but has not yet received a direct reply. We remain open to continued communication and are happy to resolve any outstanding concerns Mr. ****** may have.Sincerely,Cenvar Roofing & Solar

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I was the one who had to confront Cenver roofing team, their PC did come to my house after my confrontation.  I told them that since they broke my railroad ties, they needed to replace them instead of just trying to cover up their mistake. The wood is broke, no amount of screws or nails can fix it.  I need new ties and will not let them try to “fix it”.  Regards,

The roof was installed in June or July 2024. Have contacted the business about the areas shown in pictures that could get wet and ruin the roof and ceilings of my home. Have contacted general manager and he has stated that it doesn't need fixing and that it is my problem. *** ******* **** *** ** ** ******** ** ******* *** **** *** ******** *********.

Hello Ms. *******, First and foremost we are incredibly sorry to hear about the experience expressed in your review. We don't feel it does a good job of representing our core values and who we strive to be as a company. We understand that you did provide a positive review on Google, so we are surprised to see you had a negative experience here on BBB. Within the last week our PC, ***** ********, went by to take a second look at the job. He confirmed with you the gap you were seeing was actually closure foam and not wood under the ridge cap. Likewise, our General Manager, ******, also spoke to you on the phone to communicate everything was installed properly and the closure foam is supposed to be visible depending on the angle you look at the ridge cap. We strive to ensure all customers are taken care of which is why we apologize for any problems our team may have caused, but we are confident that the job was done right and will not results in leaks or issues in the future.

It didn't give an option to type why I rejected the response. But yes I did give a good review when the job was done. I wasn't able to see any of the so called foam they say is showing now. I understand that the foam is suppose to be under the cap but if you were supposed to see it then I would be able to see it all the way across the roof front and back  of my house. And I only see this is 3 or 4 spots on the front of the house. All I want from then is to make it where it's not showing. And I tried to express that to the general manager on the phone and he didn't want to hear anything I had to say.

      Regards,

Hello Ms. *******, We reviewed your rejection notice in reference to complaint ID ********. The attached images showcase that there are no missing areas or gaps in the closure foam and that it is in fact running across the entire ridge of the roof. It’s under the ridge cap so it is only be visible when looking directly up the roof in line with the plane and it gets hidden by the other ribs as you go down the roof. The closure foam was installed following MasterRib specifications in the installation guide so we are confident that it will not cause leaks or further damage to your roof.

I'm sorry but I will keep rejecting the business until they make this right. I can go to other houses that have the same roof and was installed just days before this was and not be able to the so called foam. All I'm asking is for it not to be seen. When I look at my roof I should see green not green and tan. So no explanation they give is going to make me happy.

Cenvar Roofing as a whole are not responding to correct issues with their poor workmanship whom they've blamed on their sub contractors, first issue was shingles installed incorrectly and the wrong dye lot in which we had to settle with a reimbursement from the shingle provider. Cleanliness of the job was below expectations. Had to have them pay for a new tire on a vehicle after the install as there were nails left everywhere, front and back yard, completely ruined our flower beds with pain chips and debris even though they said they cover those areas. Recently found they had swept excess materials and garbage into the top ceiling of our porch as they replaced old boards. Old nails were never removed but hammered over out of the way. After cleaning up all the debris of old shingles, work gloves, nails, etc. come to find out the Ridge Cap is on the house but there is no cut out of the ridge cap for air to escape the attic. The new flashing was installed horribly with dents and not folded properly. Come to find out, we were told they don't offer that service due to inability to perform those jobs without issues such as hours, but yet they offered the service anyway, and now they refuse to correct the issue. This has been almost three years in the making and we have yet to have a resolution unless we begin a civil suit again Cenvar.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/26/2024

We have responded to and attempted to correct every issue they've brought to our attention. There was an area of shingles with heavy granule loss and we have replaced the shingles in that area. They were unhappy with the appearance of the new black rake metal and we have redone it 3 times attempting to make them happy with it. The primary complaint with the trim was that the trim nails were visible, which we explained was required to mount the trim. The tire was paid for when we were notified of it. We gave them a $500 damage discount due to the flower beds being damaged. This was all back in 2021 when we did the install. This first came onto the GMs radar when **** came into our office on 12/6/23 at 330p. He recapped with us his experience from 2 years prior and told us he would be filing a lawsuit against us unless we could give him a full refund for all work completed ($11,000) plus an additional $20,000-25,000 for damages. The only issues which haven't been resolved are dented window trim on the front of the house and a small piece of cracked siding on the left of the dormer.  He stated that we never finished the work to his satisfaction and the window trim and siding issues have caused him to have concerns about potential water damage to his home, but **** did confirm with me that he was not currently experiencing any active leaks or signs of water penetration. The GM visited their home on 12/12/23 at 330p with **** present. He wouldn't let the GM on the roof or into the backyard to fully look at the roof or take better pictures of the areas of concern. The GM took pictures and documented what he could from the sidewalk in front of the customer's home and offered to have Cenvar come repair the piece of siding and replace the window trim. **** denied this option stating he did not want us returning to his property or doing any work on his house. While discussing the alternative of us directly paying the invoices of another outside contractor to complete the work, **** denied the option stating he wanted us to send him a check directly and that he "didn't want to deal with any other contractors". He reiterated that he would be moving forward with legal action if we didn't cut him a check. The GM took this all back to our COO and discussed our next steps. The GM called **** on 12/27/23 at 1215p to follow up on his visit. The GM informed him that after viewing and discussing everything, we were firm in our stance that we were not willing to refund him or pay him for the claimed damages, as his remaining issues were within our scope of work and we were still offering to correct them ourselves. At this point **** stated again he did not trust Cenvar to complete any work without causing further damage to his home and that he would be pursuing a lawsuit against us. This was the last we heard from the ********* until 6/12/24 when they reached back out stating that we had not installed ridge vent on their home. We responded to them on the 13th confirming that we had installed the ridge vent on their home, it is clearly visible in our pictures from my visit there in December. The spoke yesterday with ****** ******** who also stated that they had found excessive debris in their attic, claiming they think the crew must have intentionally shoveling trash into their attic. We discussed the ridge vent which the GM told him was installed and shouldn't have more than 1-2" worth of a gap on either side of the ridge. He told me he doesn't think it is cut out at all. If the GM is able to visit their home to verify that it is cut out he will, otherwise the GM has asked them to send a picture of the ridge since he said it is visible from within the attic. We were able to get in contact with ****** (****'s Husband) after he called from his work phone. ****** said he had discussed everything with John and ultimately was able to get him to agree to allow us to correct the last few issues. ****** understands that we have offered to correct everything they had brought up to us and he said ultimately they are trying to sell the house and just want to get everything finished so they can move on. I’m currently awaiting some pictures from ****** and I’ll get a date set to go out there with Nathan to compile a punch list for us to take care of. ****** did also ask that we start communicating with him directly moving forward rather than ****.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. To add to the previous reply by Cenvar. We did not receive a discount from the damaged flower beds. We did receive a credit from nails being scattered over our driveway which caused us to loose a tire. Cenvar was quick to fix this and get us four new tires but that was the only discount we received. Next it is stated that the metal fascia has been redone three times. This is incorrect. They came to fix an area that was bending out. Did a very poor job at that which lead me to asking for them to do it all over again. They sent a gentleman named ****** (Spring 2023) over to start working on the replacement of the metal fascia. ****** informed me that he was the one that initially installed the fascia on the house and that he didn't like the quality of the look then and that he didn't think he could do much better because he is not good at doing metal fascia. He said that he would try and that if it looked bad he would stop and that Cenvar would send out their best guy ***** who is an expert. I was called soon after by the GM at that time and said that they would get to me as soon as possible and to be patient. By the fall of 2023 I never received a call. I tried calling the Roanoke Cenvar branch several times and was not able to reach anyone. This is what led me into coming into the office in person to actually get a response. This is when I met ***** for the first time and he was completely unaware of the situation. I informed him that I was told that my name was on a list and that they wanted to disappear and that they would come and fix my issues. When ****** came out to the house soon after I did say that I didn't want Cenvar to work on my house anymore because I had no faith that a quality job would be done. When talking with ****** on this day he became argumentive. Cenvar doesn't seem to handle customer complaints well. There is no empathy with the customer. I asked for a refund for the entire job (roof, repairs, metal fascia, gutter and for the damage to the siding). I gave them a high estimate  due to the unknown cost of having the siding repaired and any possible water damage that might had occurred from the broken siding (non has occurred so far that can be seen). ****** did offer back in December of 2023 and offered to repair or have another company come out and fix some of the issues. During this time I refused that as well because I felt like Cenvar was try to corner me into what they wanted and not letting me having a say. After this interaction I asked someone on the phone at the Roanoke branch to see if the CEO/ Owner of Cenvar would call me. I did this to prevent this from getting worse or me having to seek legal aid. I expressed this to the person I had spoken to on the phone previously. I got a call about 30mins later from the same person. They we told by the Owner to say on behalf to me, "You heard our offer and thats it" and The response about me talking about legal assistance was "Bring it on." This for me was shocking to hear.  Very poor customer service for an Owner to have. Now to the present. Today 7/2/2024 I **** ******* spoke with Mr. ****** around 3:45pm at my home after scheduling to meet with him from a conversation held the day before 7/01/2024. We spoke out in front of the house and started talking about the issues at hand. We then proceeded to walk around the house while I pointed out the issues that we have discussed over the phone. During this time we talked about the metal fascia and the poor quality of work that was completed on my house. He informed me that they could do it over again but it would look the same. He informed me that we knew that there was going to be nails driven into the face of the board in my contract. That this is the way that is it done. I told him that I understood this but having a bunch of dents from driving nails into them is not stated. Having nails in the face is not my issue. My issue is with the hundreds of dents all over my house. These nails are supposed to be driven in to touch and not to sink into the metal. I showed pictures of the attic and Mr ****** confirmed that he could not see any cuts for the ridge vent. He gave me an explanation stating that they probably just hit the main beam and stopped and that's why they didn't cut it more. To me that was just an excuse for something that wasn't done that I paid for. We talked about the broken siding. He assured me that it could be fixed. I personally had another siding company come out and the said that more than likely the other siding will break due to its age. That any repairs that can be done will not match. This is why I asked for the siding to be replaced by them fully. It's not fair to me that I will have to replace this due to them breaking it. Also Cenvar didn't even report to me that they broke it. I am the one that found it after finding other things that they damaged and did not report like my metal window trim that could be seen from inside. The metal trim of the window butts right up to the roof. Instead of taking this off and replacing it (which I would have paid for). It was bent up and then beat back down with a hammer and nailed in (seen in the pictures). I was told they did this to save on cost even though I wasn't consulted. Cenvar also decided to not replace a board that was very rotten (it's broken). I was told that they probably choose not to replace it. I would have never agreed and would have paid to have it replaced. ****** explained that they will do this if it's within a certain proximity to the edge of the roof. This was not the case and after explaining the picture he agreed and said that they would also fix this. This means the roof will have to be torn up again on that side. When Mr ****** talked about all that he is offering, he said "we are offering to do a lot of free work to fix this." To which I replied, "it's not free because I already paid for this.". At the end of this conversation I agreed to let them fix the siding even though I fear it will break and that it won't match (once again making me house look worse that it did to start with). That they would come and officially cut in the ridge vent and install a wider vent to properly accommodate the build of my roof. They will also fix some buckled shingles. For the metal fascia I offered two options. A full refund for the services or for them to pay for a contractor of my choice to complete this at a satisfactory level of quality. ****** did go onto the roof and take a lot of pictures as well. Before he left he said that he would give me a call to work out the details for the repairs that I agreed to let them do.

      Regards,

      **** *******

We are still trying to resolve these issues with the customer. Last touchpoint I have been aware of was the customer declined the refund and declined to sign. (would have had to sign a letter saying we are both moving our own ways and won't be able to sue us). We are still working on figuring this out.

Cenvar came to put a new roof on my house 8-31-2023. They installed the wrong vent . They put a vent that needed to be forced by air going out and mine was a intake vent. After they finished the downspouts was filled with nails. Also after putting roof on there is a bubble in part of my roof. And they refuse to come and do anything about it. You call and leave messages but no one calls back. There ad says don't pay unless satisfied. I don't think they acknowledge that ad. From this experience I would not recommend this company

We are sorry we have been unable to communicate the actual problems in a way the homeowner can accept.  The "bubble" in the roof is a curve in the roofline that is the result of the foundation of the mobile home sinking in one corner.  We have switched out the vent in question.  The downspouts have been cleaned.  We have done all we can to address her concerns.

I am not interested in a resolution. We had a deal and they reneged on it. The deal was for me to get an estimate and then tell them how much to deduct and they decided that it was too inconvenient to not have this finished so they changed their minds. I think it is too inconvenient for me to have a hole in my ceiling. They can sue for payment and explain to a judge why they should get paid when I have a hole in my ceiling that they put.

We contracted Cenvar to do out house and garage roofs. When they came they worked past dark to finish in one day even though they said it would take a day and a half. That’s how the gutter got destroyed. Cenvar destroyed my gutter and did replace it but incorrectly. Their own inspector finally came at my insistence and found incorrect flashing needing to be redone and improperly installed vents as well as the gutter needing to be replaced again but correctly. Add this to the nails they shoved in my buried downspouts and the lack of return calls. The only way I got them to actually answer the phone was to hide my caller I’d. This started three months ago. When they come back I will have to pay a private home inspector to check out everything as I have no confidence in them and no ability to do it all myself

"****, ******, ****** and myself (COO) was there (Customers property). We checked off all of his issues and showed him pictures of the before and after." Hopefully we've taken care of this for the customer. We stand behind our work and want to make sure we do the most we can to resolve the issue.

On August 10th, 2022 Cenvar installed gutters on my home. The gutters were not installed properly. After several calls, I was able to schedule someone with Cenvar to come back and address the issues. They claimed to fix the alignment issue with the gutter. Upon closer inspection, they installed bent-down spouts, damaged the trim on the house, and in certain places they drilled the gutters directly through the vinyl siding. (See photos). On the first occasion when speaking with the reps from the company, they seemed combative and even offered a $100 gift card for what seemed for me to just not worry about the improperly installed gutters. I want them to properly install the gutters as per the purchase. As well as repair the damage done to my home.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
