      Missed pickups. Not crediting for missed pickups or only crediting $1.40 per missed pickups. Claiming they charge $1.40 per day for 30 days for billing. But only pickup once a week. So why are they charging $1.40 per day. Suppose to get senior discount that I am not getting.

Accounting determines the amount of credit using an algorithm based upon the number of scheduled services within a month and the monthly rate. The starting rate for this area is $126 per quarter.       We are writing to BBB for assistance with a problem we have been experiencing since July of this year. Our trash disposal service, American Disposal Services has picked up our yard waste only two times since approximately mid-July. We have contacted them numerous times using their complaint system and spent countless hours on hold waiting for customer service to answer. We are always assured that it will either be “picked up next time” or a truck will make a special pickup on x date. This has consistently not happened. As a result, we now have several hundred pounds of yard waste in need of pickup. Another issue we have is the fact that even though customer service has indicated they will credit us for these missed pickups, of which there are now 17, it appears this has happened only twice.

      I am rejecting this response because:



      1. Please clarify " I have verified each of the three credits ." As far as we understood, your company gave us 3 credits . We have no way to confirm how many total credits on Customer portal. 
      2. Please provide proof documents for missed collection " I have verified each of the three credits ."  We remember at least 12- 15 credits total collection was missed from July To the end of October.
      B. Please provide proof of phone conversation recorded system tape  from July to the end of October to BBB.  We kept notifying missed collections after every single collection was missed. The number of missed collections was 12- 15 times between  online missed collection forms and notifying live customer service agents.  And please count the total how many times we notified in the recorded tape. We called your customer service for missed collections but your are not included in the credits.  To prove this for us, your company is required to go through for 4 month all recorded customer service phone calls. This must be done with professionals but not within your company's workers because we need legal proof of documents from NOT American Disposal Service workers but somebody who can issue legitimate proof of paper.. This is the only way that your company  can show the true number of notifications. 
      C. Together with it, please send BBB what each agent told us in the tape. This way must get done by a professional who can issue legal proof. Bunch of them told us every single call. " Please leave the trash as it is curbside. We will pick up tomorrow, " please leave the trash at the curb side. We will be there to pick up sometime this week. " and so on.   
      3. How can you condemn us in your response, " customer got confused since Trash collection date was changed after Oct. 1 " ?  We think that this is definitely the legal case of  defamation .   Please proof that you have a document with our signature stating that we are aware that the trash date will  change acknowledgement. Your company sent collection date will change notification email in September to my husband's old email account which was not used more than 10 years.  Myself, ***** is the one account holder and my email address [email protected] is clearly on the customer portal account. My husband's email address is no longer there.  Fortunately  in late September, our neighbor brought up changing collection date from October to only Monday and we were able to start leaving trash on every Monday from October but since we are the most detailed people to read and be careful of any changes of rules in society, we copied some of emails your company has sent us. Please remark on each email address who your company sent to . Many of them are sent to my husband, Joe's never look at the over 10 year email address, *********@***.com. At this time, we recovered his *** email and found at least several emails from your company for changing collection, inclement weather , and many more notifications  We feel that your company treats us as consumers who are like making up stories to notify BBB. Your company is totally responsible to send any notifications to the right contact to each consumer .  
      4. In your response, you state that "  I have attempted to reach the customer to confirm if the collection issue has been resolved at this time as the last reported miss was on November 1 2022. "  Please prove how you tried to reach us.  Once again, we found out your company sent an email to myself and once again, it has been a long time never used my husband's *** email address.  In your email, what you stated was nothing related to what you wrote as a response to BBB st this time.  You wrote to us, " I have been advised of the missed collection of yard
      waste at your location. Will you please respond with a photo of the curbside
      yard waste so I may further assist you in resolving this issue?" 
      Is this what you mean " "  I have attempted to reach the customer to confirm if the collection issue has been resolved at this time as the last reported miss was on November 1 2022. "   You  did not write anything to us "as the last reported miss was on November 1 2022," but instead just asking us taking trash can photos only. You were not even letting us know " as the last reported miss was on November 1 2022."  We do not tolerate such contradicted 2 different responses between BBB and us.
      4. In this turmoil,  We do not think that your company showed us sincerity and honesty but instead we got defamation.  We are requesting your company to fix a number of credits AND compensate for our 2 new yard trash cans' expenses. Your company's yard trash collection people broke our 2 yard trash cans. Not collecting yard trash for 12-15 times, total weight of yard trash could have been close to 600 lb. Each trash can got heavy with soaked rain due to the fact that a long time exposed crack and topless can on curbside because of missed collections from July to the end of October. We did what we were told by a bunch of your customer service agents, "  leaving all yard trash cans ." However , they never came. We had to  bunch of yard trash paper bags purchased from **** *****  on top of 3 yard trash cans but they never came.  Yard trash paper bag got soaked, rotten, and torn.   WE do not make up stories for taking back just missed credits spending a tremendous amount of our precious time.  We need to get justice and we are requesting you what we deserve for at this point.  We would not go asking to compensate for our 2 new yard trash cans if we had your appropriate response with honesty and sincerity.  But it did not happen. Please  compensate for the 2 yard trash can's costs (receipt is ready to send you upon request) and give us back the right number of credits.
      5. We provided as many as supported documents at this time for your company but since not only BBB but Fairfax county Consumer Affairs department  stepped in for us  Case *******, we are also forwarding all supported documents which we sent out to Fairfax county. for better understanding for both BBB incharge and  Fairfax county Consumer Affairs department in charge.

      We have trash service with American Disposal and for months now we have had service issues. Ive called each week with no resolution. In October they skipped us 3 weeks. It took me four calls to get them to pick up church trash. I was told that there was a mix up in our schedule after they changed the schedule map. They sent a truck at the end of week 4 of no pick up. Our trash was 6 bags over what our cans could hold. I was assured it wouldnt happen again. As Ive been told each time. Now here we are another week of no service. I asked for credit on the missing service and was told that they would not credit for missed pick **** We are asking for better service and also reimbursement of 4 weeks of missing service. This problem started early in Spring on and off basis but since July weve had little to no service. We have active schedule at church building which piles the trash up quickly.       I contacted American Disposal Services, Inc on September 30 2022 noting that I paid for trash pickup ($120 on September 13, 2022). We were told before our first scheduled pickup on Sept 28 that trash could be collected on our driveway (asphalt with loop) by our house. There was no pickup when trash was scheduled. There was also no pickup on Thursday the 29th or Friday the 30th, despite six (6) phone calls and repeated assurances that our trash would be collected the same day. We asked that our service be canceled given the issues we had, however we keep receiving bills from this company despite zero service to date. Account number: ***********

      On August 18, 2022 our car was parked by the garage at ****************** in Chantilly. American Disposal garbage truck was collecting recycle items and hit the car damaging the parking sensors. We do not have an outside camera but the neighbors across the street have one and they provided us with the footage showing when garbage truck enters the street there are not any marks on the car rear bumper (passenger side), after the truck passes you could see the dent. When we contacted American Disposal Services company and provided the video, they indicated that on the video they do not see the truck hitting our car. As neighbors' camera is across, the truck blocks the view. However, the street is narrow and no other cars could pass by and you can clearly see no dent when truck enters the street and before passing our garage area, and after it left our garage passing our car, you see the dent. This is unacceptable. The car was simply parked on the driveway (at home). Unprofessional drivers hit the car, many times we see them slamming the cans, which then hit the cars. And when we contacted the business they did not do anything about it. We ended paying our insurance deductible ($500) to fix the car. I wish we could change the disposal service company, but it is the only one services the area so we have to use their services, and now often worried that our car could be hit again.

      American Disposal has long provided inconsistent service and missed pickups. I am aware that my pickup day recently changed from Thursday to Tuesday, and because of the driver shortage they are only doing one pickup per week. However, for the last two weeks, my trash and recycling bins have been on the street on the appointed pickup day, but have not been emptied. When I called on my second consecutive missed pickup day, I the call center called the truck and was informed that the driver had already left my neighborhood, but that they would service my address today. That has not happened. As other commenters have stated, if you call the customer service center, you will be on hold for 20-40 minutes each time. This is just ridiculous. I got my new bill today, and had been informed that rates were going up - I just got a bill for $150 for this quarter, but am hesitant to pay it because I am not getting service and despite being told I would be given a credit on my account for past pickups, those credits were never actually applied. I am actively exploring options to contract with other, more reliable, companies - American has been terrible, unreliable, and they are taking residents' money without providing the services they are contracted to deliver.

Informed by Tanya that final invoice will be received after trash and recycle bins have been retrieved, 24-48 hours. 10/11/22 - Trash and Recycle bins retrieved. Photo proof attached. 10/27/22 - Updated invoice has not been received. 10/.28/22 - Attempted to pay in office as an option available on the website but after commuting to the office, the office has a sign that it is closed to visitors due to COVID. No where on the website does it say the office is closed. Lists their office hours and an option to pay in the office with address. Picture of the sign attached. Requesting an updated final invoice for only September since last day of services was 9/30/22.

      Since switching pick up days starting the first week of October 2022, we have had no trash pick up. Multiple phone calls to customer service result in a verbal it will be picked up but it has not been picked up all month even though services have been paid for. Online filings of missed pickup are acknowledged but trash continues to be missed. This happens anytime there is a change with pick up days, drivers, anything.

      American Disposal Services has not picked up our recycling correctly for at least two months. Sometimes they show up 2-4 days late, but at least half the time they don't show up at all. This is impacting multiple homes all down our street, and we're all triaging makeshift containers to hold uncollected debris, and picking it up as it blows around in the wind and rain. This situation is ongoing and unacceptable. I have begun reporting the missed pick-ups every morning, every week, through their automated system but this has not shown any improvement in the situation. (This same situation occurred December-February, but showed improvement in between.) They have unilaterally modified their contracts to reduce our contracted services from twice a week to once a week, and they still fail to perform service even once a week more than 50% of the time. In addition, they provided written notification last night via email that they are implementing a 10% increase to all remaining customers (presumably because so many are fleeing them) to raise our bills. Given that they have reduced pick-*** on our contract already from twice a week to once a week, have already raised prices last year, and are not honoring their contracted obligations to pick up our debris on time, or 50% of the time at all, this is unacceptable. I am reporting this situation to the Better Business Bureau and also to our County. I notified both American Disposal and their parent company, Waste Connections, of this as well.

Unfortunately,due to the rise in labor and operational costs, we are unable to waive the 10%price increase for customers.       Its been 5 weeks since my last trash/recycling pick up. Right after a rate increase! Ive called 5 times to report missed pickup and every time they say they will get it within 48 hours, but never do. This is a major health hazard. I have a newborn so I get to pick up all the dirty diapers the raccoons toss in my driveway every single day! Many people in my county are experiencing the same situation. American Disposal has determined today we will no longer be capable of servicing **************** or his neighbor at the curbside in front of their homes. Operations supervisors, upon the request of the driver examined the area in which **************** resides. The road is a narrow, unpaved road with low power lines and tree limbs.  **************** and the next door neighbor have been advised today with a thirty day cancellation notice. We can collect for the next thirty days if all waste is placed at the corner of the paved road that crosses ***************'s road. Missed pick up credits have also been requested for both accounts. American Disposal is hopeful both customers will remain with us with the modified pick up location; however, we understand if they choose to find another hauler.
