  We are current owners of this company, but we definitely do not want to be. That said, the resort
  seems to not care about our very valid reasons for such and still refuse to take any responsibility
  here. We are still hoping to see a different outcome and we will keep trying to get through to them, but just be aware before signing up that this is not an easy road if you find yourself unhappy with the things that they pressure you into believing.

  If Massanutten calls you and offers a free vacation, DO NOT accept. This “free vacation” is costing us well over $36,000 thanks to the lies we were told by their staff. They told us about a myriad of amazing amenities that would be available to us as owners – they do not exist! We were never told that there was a specified cancellation period or shown any details regarding what we were really buying – in fact, we were sped through the signing of the closing documents so quickly that we were not even given the opportunity to read or process the information in the contract. Once we returned home, we learned that timeshares have no value and that we cannot even refinance to lower the interest rate as they told us. Our biggest fear is that instead of passing something of value to our children, we are instead saddling them with a lifetime of debt. I regret even answering their phone call and want to make sure others do not make the same mistake.

  We knew right away that we had made a mistake and asked to be released from the contract or at least returned to our 2-bedroom contract but we were denied requests. The amount of pressure we endured in that meeting was ridiculous. Additionally, after we initially passed on the offer, they bombarded us as manager after manager came to our table and told us what a huge mistake we were making. After several hours of practically being held hostage we gave in and agreed to the upgrade. We just wanted to get out of there! Since purchasing this timeshare it has been unbelievably difficult to reserve the unit we actually upgraded to. When we purchased the initial unit, we were promised that additional amenities would be built on the property, i.e., a mall and bowling alley. To date, they have not kept their promises. Owning this timeshare has caused financial hardship in my family. Paying the monthly mortgage and maintenance fees has taken away from my ability to support my elderly mother as she depends on my financial support. I am now retired and owning this timeshare will continue to put a financial burden on me and my family. I no longer travel as often as I did when I purchased so it is no longer of use to me. There are better vacation alternatives to use when I do decide to take a vacation. Unbelievable.

  We have been trying to get through to Mr. Michael ***** about how we are not happy in our
  timeshare. Seems to only fall on deaf ears however. We really only want to be let go from this, and
  they only continue to ask us for more of our money. It would be such a relief if we never had to deal
  with any of this ever again.

  Young, single girls BEWARE!
  I won a raffle for a free night stay at the Massanutten Resort in Virginia. On March 21, 2022, I attended a timeshare presentation that would change my life, UNFORTUNATELY! Everything presented to me led me to believe this would be a real estate investment that could produce additional income for me, but I still said no because of my financial situation. After listening to them for over 6 hours, I ended up signing up just to get out of there. I signed with the understanding that I had until July 2022 to make my final decision as to whether or not I wanted to move forward with the purchase. In April, I contacted them to cancel the contract. They refused. They took advantage of my age (24) and naivete!

  I have tried to reach out to this timeshare to discuss my issues, and it is just the same
  song and dance each time. I would really like to see some real movement in addressing
  my issues, but until then I want to make sure other people know what it is that I am
  going through. I hope that they can see that what they are doing to me is not ok. All I
  want at this point is to get out of it completely.

  Massanutten lied to us! NO meant NO…until they offered Sandals Grenada as a vacation option!
  We were assured Sandals Grenada was in the RCI Resort Portfolio by the Massanutten sales staff. The sales manager even indicated that he visited there with the same program they were offering us. This is what changed our mind after declining 3 times. We were so excited – our dream vacation spot was now a reality!
  Well…we have had this timeshare over 4 years and have not once been to Sandals Grenada or any other vacation spot since purchase.

  Being a proud former military service member suffering from anxiety and depression; what I’m experiencing because of Massanutten Resorts is extremely devastating. I hope that anyone who reads this is made aware of the cruel and predatory way that Massanutten Resorts does business and sells timeshares. We have expressed our grievances to them and yet they’ve offered no solution. We’ve had a timeshare with them since 2012 and things have become worse over the years. The maintenance fees have increased drastically, and we haven’t used the timeshare in 8 years. We were deceived by their pesky sales staff to upgrade, and things never got better. It’s hard to justify the cost of the timeshare, especially when you consider that their properties aren’t exclusive to those of us who put a lot of money into maintaining it. There isn’t anything available for us as owners, yet other people can simply book online and for a much lower price! That’s not exclusive as presented. They initially told us there was a resale value and we fell for it, there isn’t any resell value. A Massanutten timeshare is worthless. Don’t let them tell you like they told us that this was a real estate investment. When you execute the contract, everything is done in a way where you’re not being told the dirty truth about everything, and they rush through it, so you don’t see the negatives or contradictions. They didn’t tell us about the rescission period and now that we’ve discovered what a scam it is, they don’t care. If we could give Massanutten a worse rating we would! Don’t bother going to their meetings no matter what they bribe you with.

  The experience has been so very frustrating. We are truly disappointed with the timeshare; the salesman lied to us during sales meetings. Whenever we try to get help, no real help was provided. There is just no excuse; and we won't give up. Be careful buying here. They
  are not always truthful, responsive, or very helpful. It really is a shame.

  Very disappointing company. They pressure-sell you something that you ultimately can't use when your circumstances change, and when you want to get rid of it they "have no buy-back program" and will tell you to sell it yourself, an impossibility. This is literally a company that takes your money and leaves you hanging, with the prospect of paying killer yearly fees forever.
