My car had broken down on the side of the road and I had called Intersport Performance 19760 Ashburn Rd. Ashburn VA to see their process and if they could take a look at my car and why it was overheating. The manager that I communicated with stated it would only be a fee of $170 to scan the vehicle and figure out what is wrong with it. I agreed because I usually take my car to get serviced at *** and usually when they scan my vehicle they can tell me every single thing that is wrong with my car. I had my car towed into their shop on 9/28/22. I asked the manager a lot of questions and he began to grow agitated and started spewing out how many years he has been working on luxury cars etc. My car is a 2018 *** and gives the driver messages on what is wrong with the vehicle so I knew it was a coolant issue and the manager still recommended doing a full scan because it could be a number of things. After giving him the go ahead to do the vehicle scan, he states he is not able to determine what is wrong with the car and will need charge me another $170 to run water through my car to see where the leak will be with the coolant system that I already told him my issue was from the beginning. After agreeing to him to put coolant in my car he decided to put a gallon of water and sent me pictures. I googled the pictures and a recall for my car popped up and I inquired for him to look into the recall for me, instead he told me it would cost $2500 to take my car apart to figure out whats wrong after he guaranteed the scan would tell him. After hearing that outrageous price I got my car towed to *** b/c a opening occurred they could finally take my car. I was charged $440 for them to release my car to the tow truck driver. I paid *** to scan my vehicle and they were able to provide a whole list of things my car needed whereas intersport performance never provided me a list just charged me hourly and experimented on my car. This caused me a week of uber charges of $200.

    Business Response

    Hi

    Everything mentioned was correct .

We charge 178.00 to scan and run computer diagnoses.

We also charge 178.00 for coolant flush and diagnose a coolant leak.

Customer stated that she drove the car multiple times without any coolant in it so I took the time to explain how bad and how damaging it is to the engine.

Also told Customer in order to verify the coolant leak we need to remove many items including intake manifold to locate the leak.

The quote was given to further tear down included reassembly.

Customer decided to take car back to the dealer even though she initially stated she will never go back dealer again after the horrible experience she recieved.

Bottom line is none of techs work for free and we did authorization for the charges prior of the work as she stated above.
