On October 7, 2024, I used the gigworkersolution website to apply for the Self-Employed Tax Credit (SETC), with the agreement that they would charge a 20% fee based on my approved amount. After submitting all necessary tax documents, I received an approval for $7,328.22.However, the following day, a representative from Anchor Accounting contacted me, stating that my approved amount was actually $6,120. They instructed me to sign some documents and return them. Upon careful review, I noticed that the fees being charged were significantly higher than the agreed 20%, leaving me with around $4,000. Additionally, we were informed that if we do not proceed, there would be a fee of $1,100.Due to these discrepancies and unexpected charges, my wife and I no longer wish to proceed with this arrangement. We have been threatened with collection actions by Anchor Accounting if we do not comply. This situation has caused us considerable stress and concern. Furthermore, I want to ensure that all my tax information remains confidential and is not disclosed to anyone. We request immediate clarification and resolution of this matter to avoid any further complications.

    To Whom It May Concern:

Anchor *********************** (Anchor) is in receipt of the Complaint submitted by ****** ****** (Customer).  ********************** denies the allegations made in the review and provides the following response:

In 2023, Anchor partnered with ******************** (***) to provide services related to the Self-Employed Tax Credit (SETC).  The Customer subsequently entered into a written agreement with Anchor (the Contract).  Per the terms of the the Contract, Anchor performed all obligations to assist the Customer in submitting his application to the ************************ (IRS).  Notwithstanding Anchors performance, the Customer informed ********************** on October 18, 2024 that the Customer refused to complete the process.

The Contract makes it clear that the Customer is obligated to pay ********************** for its services performed, including a flat fee $1,100 in the event the Customer chooses to not move forward.  On October 29, 2024, pursuant to the terms of the Contract, Anchor issued an Invoice to the Customer for the $1,100 debt owed by the Customer.  To date, the Customer has refused to pay his debt owed to Anchor and has not paid any money to Anchor for the services it provided.   The Customer is in breach of the Contract.

The allegations made by the Customer against ********************** are false. Anchor has assisted customers in receiving more than $33 million in **** refunds. Should the Customer choose to proceed and fulfill his obligations under the Contract, Anchor remains committed to adding the Customer to its list of successful refunds.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Sincerely,

I initially started this process with Gig Worker ********************************** Financial of filing an *** amendment for an SETC and filed on with the *** 2/12/24 and on May 14, Anchor claims I am due back $8,990 and stated they can advance the money due to be received minus 20% fee for filing and it takes having transcripts from the *** to verify that there is no money owed to the *** on or around May 14. I accept, they ask for ***** days to get them and verify then they will release the money which should be received in an additional 2 business days. At the end of the 20 days about June 4, it was said they still have not received the transcripts but I could provide the official transcripts on my own. I do so immediately, but then for weeks they claimed the transcripts needed to be submitted a different way to keep me on the run around for a couple weeks. June 17 they then inform me they have them they are under review and I should receive a text or email to verify my deposit info. Around July 1st or so I had not gotten the text or email I call to inquire if there is a hold up and they then tell me it will be additional 15- 20 days to review them which I was never informed about nor is disclosed. Their claim is they are supposedly waiting on a 3rd party to disperse the funds. Then July ***************************************************************** my money via advance. I told him I never received the email that I would not be receiving it I asked if he could look into this further for me because this was the first I heard of it and can see whats actually going on bc in my end it still shows Im waiting on the advance. He then said he dont know what to tell me but I wont be getting the advance nor will he further answer my questions. At this point, Im not sure who my money will get released to or when, but I signed a power of attorney form and also numerous differently dates *** change of address forms in the advance contact and if we have a contract how can they reverse
