Important information
- Customer Complaint:
The BBB has received numerous complaints from consumers that allege paying a large fee to this firm for EIN numbers and the company claiming to be with the IRS. Online searches for this company website show that the website is based in Iceland and not in the United States. BBB strongly encourages consumers to visit the irs.gov website directly for any assistance in obtaining a EIN number. Consumers report their bank accounts being charged hundreds of dollars repeatedly for fees and providing SSN, passport information and other forms of ID that have then been compromised. To date, we have not received any responses to the complaints on file.
BBB suggests consumers also report their experience to the FTC at www.ftc.gov

Just recently submitted application online through this site which appears to be legitimate. Charged me $300 for a free service. Tried calling their listed number but not able to leave voicemail. Emailed them as well just after asking for a cancellation, but most likely not going to get a response there either.Customer Answer

I am embarrassed to report that I was scammed by a website appearing to represent itself as an official website of the ************************* While in a hurry to obtain an *** for a newly-formed entity --a task I have completed several times over the years-- I Googled for "irs ein application" and the first result given was: ********************************** The url result had ******** green check circle and, even with having completed numerous online safety trainings, I continued to the legitimate-looking site. I went on to fill in the requested information, to include a social security number, and upon submitting the data was sent to a payment screen requesting a $250.00 payment. -- Although my recollection was that applying for an *** was free of charge in the past, I assumed this $250 fee was simply another result of the ***** Administration's policies. So, I entered the credit card data and submitted the application.Rather than receiving an almost immediate reply with the SS-4 for with the *** (as I recalled from past applications), the site gave me a sub-webpage to track my order status. After repeated checks on the status, later in the day the site provided me with a copy of the SS-4 with the new ***. (I am hoping this is legitimate. It looks genuine.)Upon not receiving a receipt (even though my bank account shows the $250 charge went through), I went back to the website to look for the option to print/download the receipt. It was at this point that I realized this official-looking site was actually a private entity named "Tax ID Support" with that name and "***-IRS-Tax-Number.com" listed in the fine print at the bottom of the various pages on their site. My primary concern is that both a social security number and a credit card number were solicited and obtained by an entity intentionally and deceptively presenting itself as an official IRS website (regardless of the fine print). This should be investigated and the scheme should be stopped.Initial Complaint

I am very disappointed to discover that this organization is a service outside of the **** They falsely pose as an official IRS entity with its name in their url which tricks people into paying for a typically free service through the government **** I reached out to them to dispute the charge after applying through them for an EIN then finding out about their false pretenses. They responded back immediately with a lot of language to say how theyre covered from wrongdoingthey must have that response on the ready after many other similar complaints. So many words to cover deceitshameful!Initial Complaint

Fake IRS EIN Website charged me $250 for an EIN. This is normally a free service. A fact I just discovered by coming to the BBB website and seeing the multitude of complaints about this. I have disputed the charge with my bank. I hope something can be done about this fake site so that other small business owners don't get fooled.Customer Answer

I need an EIN for my bookkeeping business, I thought that I click the *** website for the application,The site says *** and EIN charging $247 for what is free on the actual *** website. This is a deliberate attempt at defrauding the public. I am terrified they have my private information. By the time I realized it wasn't the actual *** website and was a scam I had already pressed the button.
