I entered into a contract for dock construction in April of 2022. My application for permit was not submitted until July 2022. After the $500 deposit was submitted with the application, this company did no follow up with *** to obtain my permit. After 2 years had passed, and many hours of my own dedicated to coordinating with ***, we finally got an approved permit. I was then told by Dillon Docks that my price would increase, that I would also need considerably more expensive (steel) pilings, and it would be an additional 2 years before they could construct my dock. They refused to refund my deposit, which I believe is terrible service under the circumstances. They did not uphold the promises made to us in regards to the permitting process or the timeline, and not refunding our deposit (at a minimum) seems very poor.

Dillon Docks worked with the ******’s to obtain a dock permit. It takes meeting with the clints, agreeing on a dock design and then drawings their 2 scale plans and forwarding the plan to the surveyor. Once surveyor work is complete, he returns it to Dillon Docks with his stamp. This can be a lengthy process due to the surveyors having a lot of work.  Once all of this is in hand, we start our *** application process. We charge $500 to complete and submit this application to ***. If we build the dock, that price is deducted. We also send a check for the required fee by the County.  Once at ***, they will send us emails with questions and they were handled as needed. Once Mrs. ****** received her *** permit, she called our office and asked when we would be starting her dock. She expected to be moved to the front of the line and I explained that she would be put in line that we, like most dock builders, are booked out. Mrs. ****** was upset and claimed she said she did all of the work to get the permit and she deserves to be bumped up on the schedule. She continued to call complaining about the schedule. It was mentioned that their may be steel poles due to her location and that could cause a price increase and time delay. Mrs. ****** acknowledged there may be a need for steel but was still upset about a price increase. At this time, I told Mrs. ****** we would not hold her to her contract if she found another dock builder that could build a dock quicker than we could. Her comment was that she wanted her $500 refunded and I explained that this was not refundable. In the Contract we mention steel under two sections: The Rock & Steel Clause and Pole Clause. The contract also has a section for Price Change AND mentions the $500 fee as noted below. There will be a $500.00 payment made to Dillon Docks for *** approved permit, if for any reason Dillon Docks does not build the dock, this money will pay for time and drawings, if Dillon Docks builds the dock the $500.00 will be deducted from the cost of the dock.I had not heard anything from Mrs. ******, until we received notice from the BBB. Thank you, **** ************ *****
