      Virginia Automotive Services received my 2009 VW EOS on February 29, 2024. I was informed that the ignition switch was bad and needed to be replaced. The cost to replace the ignition switch would be $107.11 for parts and $271.91 for labor, in addition to a $159.95 diagnostic charge bringing the total to $385.45. However, it would be an additional $400.00 to replace and program a new key. This was also approved. On March 11, 2024 I was informed that my vehicle was ready and was given three keys. The new programed key with a key fob, a dummy key that did not work anything (in order to have additional keys made) and the original key and key fob that only work the doors. After trying the new key and key fob, I was unable to unlock the vehicle with the new key fob. I was informed that the new key would not work for the door locks because the door cylinders were different from the ignition switch. I have to use the original key and key fob for the door locks to work, I also noticed that the dash was displaying caution lights for several other issues that *** be wrong. I informed the cashier that I would not take the vehicle until all of the caution lights were out. The next day I spoke with a Manager and was informed that the lights were out on the dash. I asked about the key fob not working correctly and was asked if I had another key fob because the one given was old worn and would not work properly. After giving him the other key fob and several minutes waiting for him to switch the inner transponders, the new key fob worked properly. When I got home and opened the original (old) key fob, and noticed that the inner transmitter/transponder were missing. I called back and spoke with the Manager and I was informed that the new key fob never had a transmitter/transponder, so he had to use the old transponder. So, I was charged $400 for a key and a key fob without the transmitter/transponder. After several trips and disappointments this was a TERRIBLE experience.
