Purchased a boat from the auction. The boat was in poor shape, however the motor was stated to be a 2019. I paid the high price of ****** solely due to it having a ***************************** their description. After receiving the boat, I realized it had been sunk. I understand it is an auction and there are risks. The problem is, after pulling the engine cover off the boat, I learned that the motor was a ****. Not a 2019. Whoever was selling the boat put a new engine cover on it so that it would bring more money in at auction. I contacted the auction house about this scam and gave them all the proof they needed. They agreed that it was in fact a scam, however they stated that they do not guarantee anything in the description. The boat was mis represented and worthless. I paid $****** solely because they stated the motor was a 2019. Stock number was ***** and i purchased it in june. Filed the complaint with them roughly 3 weeks after purchasing it and have all emails and phone recordings to prove it.

    Better Business Bureau:

As I stated before, I understand that the terms and conditions state they do not guarantee anything they say or list and that it is my responsibility as the buyer to look at the stuff in person. At this point I know the auction will not be returning any money on it. I filed this complaint solely because I believe it is very shady business practice. I bought the boat and had it towed to my house. Once I saw the boat, I immediately knew it was sunk. That is the ****** you take when buying from auctions so that did not bother me. The issue is the motor. Even if I had looked at the motor in person, the serial number on the engine (it was a sticker) said it was a 2019 as well as the engine cover. So in person I never would have known that the motor was over 10 years older than what the listing stated. I took the boat to a boat shop and they had to take the engine cover apart to see the serial numbers that were actually stamped on the engine. Getting the  boat to the  boat yard and having them actually look at it took a little while. I provided all the proof to the  auction house.

So yes, I understand that the terms and conditions keep them clear out of the water on liability, however it is just poor business practices. I am all for taking gambles on stuff. But the boat with a **** motor in great shape is worth half of what I paid (since it said it had a 2019 motor). It is completely miss representing an item. I've had issues in the past with other large and small auction places and they always try their best to make things right. looking at it in person would not have changed anything.
