I completed a move with college hunks in July od 2024. The move was already off to a shaky start when the team was over 2hrs late because of truck issues, instead of sending a new team, they made me wait. During my move, I had all boxes color coded and labeled with a cheat sheet for the lead, which was not followed. Instead of take the time the take certain items apart, they lifted them over my balcony to cut time, which ultimately resulted in damage to my *********** lead mover took pictures of the immediately noticed damage and stated he filed the complaint for me. I was never contacted, so I reached out to my POC who stated he would look into it and never followed up. Fast forward to now, the company is saying I didn't do my part and they are no longer liable for the damage they caused and that I am tough out of luck, despite my outreach and trust that my movers did what they said they would do, so I could focus on a serious medical condition. Not only did the movers damage my items. They rushed on the back end, because one of them had another job to get to, so I felt rushed as a customer for their failure to assign a new team. This is disappointing since I took very good care of my team, to include, water, Gatorade, Popsicles and pizza along with a tip. Now the company blames me for their failure to follow up. I repainted the tough luck email and again, I got crickets. If this is how College Hunks does business, no one should be trusting them or wasting their money for lies, deceit, gaslightling and blame of their customers.I want the compensation for my damaged items/total loss items since I also paid for the better/higher rate insurance of my items.Ghosting via text and email is unacceptable.Business Response

I called this company to set up a small move. I was told a price, but I had to ask my husband first. I called back 15 minutes later to agree to the price, but even though nothing changed I was told the price was an extra $100. I was also asked to put down a down payment. Then today **** texted me to tell me that we had to remove the door, and other things to prepare for the move. I was told that all of this was included in the move on my previous call. **** said that if they had to do these things that they would not be liable for any damage caused. The first two people that I called did not say that it was our responsibility to remove the door. They were already charging over $600 for a small local move. He also tried to upsell me for more money. I want my full deposit refunded. I do not like how this company does business.Business Response

All job bookings are made through our corporate call center, once the job is booked, we (the local office) will call the client to explain the way the local office operates and to ask the client if they have any questions or concerns. The pre-payment ($169) is collected at the time of the booking to reserve the spot. If they client does not go through with the service the pre-payment is refunded, just like it was for this client (*********************************). The refund of $169 was refunded to the client the same day as requested.Initial Complaint

College H.U.N.K.S provided what they termed a "BINDING" quote for our Sept. 11, 2023 move to **. However, due to underestimating the number of trucks and labor, they demanded $4,041.41 extra after the move. The estimator was physically present in our home several times and also only days before the move and could see what was to be moved, but made no request to revise the "BINDING" quote. Therefore, we refused to pay more. H.U.N.K.S referred our file to ***************************** LLC and I received a Warrant in Debt today to appear in VA court in January.Customer Answer

On Aug. 12, 2023, I called the local moving company---College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk and and moving. I asked if they could move a couch from my upstairs to downstairs. They said yes. It would be $169.00 I said OK and paid with my CC. They scheduled me for the next day at 3 pm. Two young men came to move the couch and it took them 20 minutes. After they moved they stated that I owed $338 more. I was shocked!!! If I knew this amount ahead of time, I would have asked friends to help me move the couch. This is just a scam. How they tell the customer one thing and then charge more after they have done the move. I have called and spoke to **** at his home number and he said that is what they do. The guys who moved me knew how upset I was and took off $50. I would like my $288 back. This was a hidden fee which I knew nothing about until the next day after the move.Business Response

Before serving this client, this client was informed of our rate which is a 2 hour minimum + a one time truck and travel fee. The client called into the corporate call center and the representative was informed the client which we have the call. Also, the local level here in ********, ** also made contact with the client. We then proceed with the job. Our pricing has been this way for over 5+ years. There are no hidden fees.Initial Complaint

Move was on 09/01/23. In addition to most all of my jewelry being taken. They also dropped and broke items in another box. Both my ************ heard the glass shatter. She also heard them talking about breaking it. I was unpacking & putting things away as I opened them. She started to open the boxes as they came in thinking she would find the one that had broken glass. When I figured out what was missing I did advise ***** by email on or around the 3rd or 4th of September. However, I did not file a claim (my fault for not reading all info. provided to me) & when I corresponded with him he did not advise me to (that would have been a nice way to help your customer). Regardless, I should have received the box broken or not. They said, that they did not have a box with broken ****************** was delivered. Both my daughter and I know that not to be true. As of today they have not responded to the missing jewelry. I do know what was missing from the box that was broken. I have an idea as to what was packed with the jewelry that I did not receive.I received a request from ***** either on September 2nd or 3rd to rate how they did. I rated them either a 6 or 7. Received a response back wanting to know how to make it better. I told him what I thought was in the box what was missing that could have been in the box and asked him what he could do to make it better. After the 7 days was up he responded all claims had to be filed within 7 days. For the life of me I could not imagine packing a basket of hair curlers and hair dryer with the glass canisters, and boxes or bags of sugar, ****************** After discovering my necklaces missing I also found deviled egg containers missing. I am a 100% sure that I packed the canisters and deviled egg containers together. The hair ************** dryer was kept in my bathroom by my bedroom where I kept my jewelry. There is no doubt that I packed curlers, dryer, and jewelry in another box together.Business Response
