About a few weeks before 12/16/2024 I brought in a differential from a 2011 Camaro SS to have a different ring and pinion and bearings and bushings replaced. I picked up the unit 12/16/2024. At the time I picked it up I was given back the differential and the repair order. No gear oil or limited slip supplement was given to me. I assumed that since I was charged for those products that they were in the differential. I installed it and when I first drove the car I started to hear gear wine from the rear end. I returned home after driving 5 miles total. My son is a mechanic so I towed the car to his work place. Upon checking the differential, he found that there was NO oil or friction modifier in it. He filled the unit with fresh oil and modifier. I towed the car back home and test drove it again. Adding the fluids didn't make a difference. Total miles driven 7 miles. I went to the business and explained the situation, that since I wasn't given the oil and modifier that I thought it was in it. I asked why he didn't give me the oil and modifier. He said he also assumed that it was placed in the differential also. We agreed to have the mechanic take the unit apart and assess the damage. The mechanic said it showed signs of being run hot and the pinion gear to the ring gear wasn't correct any more. He just took the cover off but didn't disassemble it. I told the sails man that because he assumed the oil and modifier was in the unit that he should accept responsibility and repair the differential. This is where we disagree. At this point I have the unit back in my position and I am currently looking to have it repaired. I feel strongly that they should accept the responsibility for the damaged unit and that they should at least refund the money I paid them.

Case was not resolvedied to glue/weld back together and after more checking over stuff, found also the dip stick had been broken and glued back together. *********************** has now fix truck with no problems. We had to pay them $750 for the work that 4 wheel drive messed up. I have sent demand letter asking for payment or letter saying they won't pay and I will file in small claims court but haven't received anything. Just looking for reimbursement for their shady work.
