- April 2, 2024 - Paid $1300 ($1000 cash, $300 check)- Business committed to cut down tree and remove all debris to the curb - Complaint: The business first quoted $1000. Day off they demanded we pay $1300 before they would complete service. They cut down the tree, demanded payment, and left without removing the 40 foot tree trunk. They claimed the wood was too wet and they needed to come back after it dried out. It has been 2.5 months and they have not come back to complete the job.- The business is dodging our phone calls, lying, and stealing from us. He stopped answering calls. But before ignoring us he kept coming up with fake excuses for why he couldn't do it yet (need a different machine, travelling to *****, etc.). We have demanded that he either refund payment or finish the job. The man no longer answers calls. When they removed our tree, they damaged my neighbor's fence. They said they'd return to fix it, but they haven't. They've ignored our calls and emails. They ruined my neighbor's fence, and owe him!Business Response

The guy who is supposed to fix it got in an electrical accident and is in the hospital.
I promise I will fix this. Give me until June 20th. I will reach out directly to the consumer to get it fixed. I apologize that this happened.

I hired ***********************************, Liberty Tree Service, on the afternoon of 10/24/22. We verbally agreed on $3800 for chopping down a few trees, grinding 2 stumps, and cutting roots that ran over my septic tank and were growing towards my houses foundation. He completed some of the work on 10/24/22, then returned 10/25/22 and completed a bit more. My husband paid him the full amount that day, even though wasnt finished the job. He had yet to grind the 2 stumps or cut the roots needed (my main reason for calling him). He told my husband that he would come back Thursday 10/27/22 or Friday 10/28/22. When he never showed up either day, I called him and texted him on Friday 10/28/22 to find out why he never showed. He texted back that he would come Saturday. He never showed. I once again called him back and he answered his phone. When I told him that no one showed he said he would check on it and call me back. I never got that call back. I texted him on Monday 10/31/22 , Tuesday 11/1/22 , and Wednesday 11/2/22 asking him to compete the job for which he was hired. We had used him once in the past and they did what the work requested, but not this time. My text from 11/2/22 gave him until 11/3/22 to compete the work or I would take further action. He texted back that he would show up Thursday 11/3/22. Again, he never showed. I texted him at 1:45 pm on 11/3/22 reminding him that once again no one showed. I then called him at 2:35 pm letting him know I was not happy and expected him to complete the work we paid him to do. He texted back at at 3:19 pm that he was sending a guy and requested my address again. I complied. I have been waiting and am still for someone who never, never, ever comes. They need to complete the work or give me a refund of at least $1000-$1500 to hire someone else to complete the job he was hired to do. The tractor driver also damaged 3 sprinkler heads that will need replacing, 2 shrubs, and another tree with his haphazard driving.Initial Complaint

LTS was doing work for several neighbors, and while in the area on 9/10/22, they came to my home to give us a quote for some work we were interested in having done. The work included removing 3 dead trees, along with a few smaller trees, grinding of the larger stumps, cleaning up all tree debris, as well as clearing some existing brush in a defined area. The owner quoted us $1500 on the spot, and we accepted. He said his crew could get started right away. I then went to the bank to withdraw $1500. A short while later he asked for $200 for machinery fuel, which we gave him. Sometime later I received a text from the owner that they were finished, but when I went to look, I saw there was still A LOT to be cleared and cleaned up. The stumps were still there, much of the tree debris from their work was still there, and they hadnt cleared any of the existing brush that we discussed. I spoke with him about my concerns, and he assured me his men would stay to finish clearing everything, but he had to leave to go to another job site. At that time he asked for the remaining balance which I paid assuming his crew would stay to finish the job. However, a short while later they were gone and the work was not completed as promised. On 9/11, I sent him a message letting him know the job wasnt finished and asked when they would be returning to complete the work, to which he replied Tomorrow. Nobody ever showed the next day. I found out from several neighbors that their jobs hadnt been finished either, and for the next 2 weeks all of us tried contracting the owner on numerous occasions. Most attempts went unanswered, and on a few occasions he said they would come that day or the next to finish, and in every instance nobody ever showed. I sent him photos of all the debris and brush his crew left, and he again promised to return the next day and still hasnt. We have no confidence they will return to finish the work, and are seeking a refund to pay someone else to finish it.Customer Answer

This business came to my home while doing work for some of my neighbors on 9/10/22 and quoted us verbally for work we were ************ came to our home on 9/10/22 while doing work for several neighbors and quoted us for work we were interested in having done (per the complaint). The quoted price was $1,500 which was to be paid in cash, so the only documentation I have of the transaction are the *** withdrawals from my bank account. The work was done on Saturday, 9/10, but because I withdrew the funds on a weekend, they did not post to my account until Monday, 9/12. I had to withdraw the funds in 2 separate transactions since my bank caps an *** withdrawal at $800. So I made back to back withdrawals for $800 and $700 on 9/10 that posted on 9/12. All of this cash was given to the owner of the company on the day the work was started with the promise it would be finished that same day. ******************** had to leave to go to another job site and assured us his crew would be staying to finish all the clean up we discussed as part of the job, but they left shortly after he did and never finished. We would like the job to simply be finished, but he has been a no show everyday he has promised to come back, and no matter how many times we and other neighbors who are also waiting on him to finish try to contact him to get him back out, he never shows. He has told us repeatedly h*** be here the next day and has even told us hes on his way, but then never shows up. If hes not willing to simply finish the jobs as promised, we would like a refund in order to pay someone else to finish. We had plans to move our fence back, and cannot do so until everything is cleared and cleaned up as part of the promised work we paid for. I have multiple text messages I sent to the owner with his promises of retuning(along with pictures I sent him of the debris left in our backyard) that I can send along with a snapshot of the *** withdrawals totaling $1,500 on the day the work was started. August 27th - $1000 cash to remove several trees in my backyard. This was an add on to my neighbors much bigger job ~$15k. My fence was damaged in 4 places and they keep promising to fix it tomorrow but they keep not showing up.Initial Complaint

Was only supposed to pay deposit. Then while working on the property said he needed the rest of the money to fix a machine needed to finish the job. Now will not return to the job, refund money, or even answer or return phone calls. He has left trees on property and damaged my neighbors fence, and a claimed three day job has been over a month. ****** heard from him in weeks.Refuses to finish, wont refund money, and now Im going to have to pay another company to finish his work and fix my neighbors fence. So essentially he committed fraud.Do not hire him, or at least never pay a dime until fully completed.
