I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1) We do not want to pay the bill from last year because we do not know of it. 2) Please remove the $100 equipment charge from the bill, as it was not supposed to be included. 3) The first person spent two and a half hours fixing the issue, while the second person only stayed in the restaurant for 45 minutes. Therefore, charging less than two and a half hours would be accurate. They have corrected the bill, and we will pay it soon.

    Regards,

*** ****** ** ********** ptionist, *******. Unfortunately, she was quite rude to me and informed me that regardless of whether customers like it or not, the company charges a certain fee. Upon hearing this, I felt overcharged and upset. I even asked if they had a record of my previous calls, but they were unable to provide any evidence. Nevertheless, they insisted that I pay the fee anyway."Avoid calling this company as their customer service is likely to cause significant stress and discomfort.

SJ CONNER received a call from property maintenance man of ********** ****. He asked if we could assist in a leak in dining area. He stated that he was helping tenant because he could not speak good English. Upon completion of work that was requested from *** ****** the invoice was to be paid which was stated to the customer before providing service. The owner agreed to pay and also asked if someone from SJ CONNER could come, and pick check up. Upon arrival to present invoice the owner was very argumentative about the price of the invoice. I then proceeded to give a breakdown of the bill and also expressed that the prices are set by S JACK CONNER. I then called Mr. Jack so that he could confirm that the information I provided was accurate. The owner spoke with Mr. Jack but still stated that he was not paying for the services.  The owner also stated that they had received service from other plumbers that day that were not able to fix the leak and was happy that we were.

S.J CONNER has set prices that are not negotiable however if there was work not completed then their would be an adjustment for coming back. In the case with *** ****** the work was completed after other plumbers were unable to fix the issue therefore no discounts needed to be applied. Equipment was mandatory for this job so S.J CONNER should receive full payment.

******* ******** was at my house for about 1/2 hr. not 2 hours. ****** was gone for over 2 hours and I was charged for the time he was gone, not acceptable. I wasn't charged for **** ******* work because he was just fixing what ****** didn't fix when he was here. I was overcharged by at least $200. I was never told that I would be charged that much before the work was done. If I had known, I would not have hired this company. I was very upset with not only the work that was/wasn't done but also being charged for time that no one was even here. I feet that a refund of $200 would be fair.

We received your letter regarding the above complaint.  We made 3 (three) visits to the ****** home.  They were as follows: 1:  12/20/22   ******* ******** was there for 2 hours.  The bill for this visit was $215.00 but Ms. ****** was not charged. 2.  12/22/22  ****** *******  This is the bill that Ms. ****** has questioned.  We took off ¾ hour for ******** lunch break after reviewing his time.  That would bring the bill to $662.82 instead of $734.07. 3.  1/6/23   **** ****** picked up material and was there 2.5 hours.  Ms. ****** was not charged.  This bill would have been $187.50. The bill for the 3 (three) visits would have been $1,065.32.  Ms. ****** paid $734.07.  I do not feel any further adjustment is warranted. Regards, ** **** ******

As we stated before, we made several visits to the ****** residence.  Ms. ****** was only charged for the one visit.  We feel that she has received enough of a discount already and the invoice will remain as is.

I still feel that a refund of $200 is warranted as the business never gave me an estimate up front and then I was overcharged for hours that the tech didn't work. This business doesn't put the customer first and is fraudulent in my opinion.

Thank you for your message. However, I do not accept S. J. Conner & Sons, Inc.’s response. I am not satisfied with the outcome.  The response does not address the overflowing downspouts caused by the business’ damage. The business states: " We did not charge for landscaping” - they did not do any landscaping!  I arranged for landscaping and paid for it myself with the firm *** ***** ** *******.  My son did indicate to S. J. Conner’s technician that we would take care of the landscaping.  My son made no indication that we would take care of the drain pipe repair, as this damage was only discovered after the technician was gone when we experienced rain.  I attempted to contact S.J Conner and Son’s on several occasions for them to come to my home and address them.  As they are misrepresenting the situation (claiming to have done landscaping, and shifting their responsibility away for the overflowing downspouts which were only discovered later with rain, I have no faith that S. J. Conner and Son’s would be honest in their handling of my concerns now should they return to my home to look at the damages they caused. I continue to seek a refund as their work caused as much, if not more damage than it repaired.  The drains to my downspouts still overflow when it rains, there is still an open sunken hole in my driveway, the pavers in my walkway continue to sink.  I’m working with others for these repairs as S. J. Conner and Sons did not perform their work properly and have yet to acknowledge all of my concerns and accept their responsibility for the damages they caused. Thank you, ******** ****** ###-###-####  ering downspout and a piece of siding on my house were dented.

Perhaps the worst part of the situation is that buried black corrugated piping which moves rainwater away from the two downspouts on the front of my house was damaged. Now when we have rainfall, water gushes from the junction of the downspouts and the black corrugated pipe and collects next to the house foundation instead of being carried away from it.

I’ve made three calls to the business in an attempt to have them correct the problems. S. J. Conner & Sons has refused to comeback. I also requested an itemized bill, which I have not received. I paid $2149.44 in full to them by Visa on 6/24/22..

I have since needed to have their damage repaired by another business.

We were hired by Mrs. ****** to repair the leaking water line to her house.  We did this job on a time and materials basis....we only charged for the time we were there and the materials we used instead of a flat contract rate.  A tunnel was dug under the driveway to locate the source of the leak without digging a ditch through the driveway and busting up the asphalt.  Dirt was placed back into the area, but there is always settling because of time and varying amounts of rainfall.  Our goal was to be cost effective and not spend any unnecessary time on the job.  We did not charge for landscaping, as we told Mrs. ****** that was not our area of expertise.  Our technician was also told by Mrs. ******** son that he would take care of the repairs to the landscaping and the drain pipe.  We will be happy to look at any damages Mrs. ****** says we caused.  Please advise.

After speaking with the technician who performed the work, we found out that when he arrived on site, there was a pile of dirt where someone else had been digging around the driveway and storm drain before we began any work.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The response from the business does not propose any action to resolve my request for a refund.  I continue to seek a refund as their work caused more damage for which I have incurred other expenses to repair.  S. J. Conner & Sons technician left much damage to my property in the course of their repair:  multiple broken side-walk pavers, a sinking hole in my driveway, a crushed downspout, and a crushed drain pipe for rainwater.  None of this damage existed prior to S.J Conner & Son's work at my home.  Although not directly stated, their response seems to suggest that the damage existed prior to their arrival – THIS IS SIMPLY UNTRUE.

The attached picture shows the state of the property when our technician, ***** arrived....a pile of dirt on the driveway, pavers pulled up and piled to the side.  Her son stated that another person had been there digging trying to locate the leak.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The picture attached from the business does not show how the technician for S. J. Conner & Sons found my property upon arrival.  The picture shows how the S. J. Conner & Sons’ technician left my property on 6/21/2022!  S. J. Conner & Sons, and/or their technician, are being untruthful in attempting to present this picture as how they found my property, when in fact it is how they left my property midway through their repair work. The business response does not address my request for a refund.  I continue to seek a refund since their repair work caused damages for which I’ve incurred other expenses to repair.  As S.J. Conner & Sons' repair work damaged my property, and as they continue to deflect responsibility through their dishonest responses, I will continue to seek a refund through every means possible until I receive one.

We maintain that it is Mrs. ****** that is not being truthful in this situation.  Our tech’s have been instructed at all jobs to take before and after photos.  We submitted photos of how our tech found the situation upon arrival.  By her own son’s admission, someone else had been there attempting to locate the water leak before we were even called out. Her son also stated that he would take care of the clean-up issues involving those areas that had been disturbed…again, before we even got there.  Our tech dug at the water line site only, repaired the leak, and then backfilled.  Mrs. ****** stated she wanted to wait until her son arrived and looked it over before paying.  They were both satisfied with the work, and she paid by credit card.  Our tech NEVER dug at the downspout area, so he could not have damaged it.  Mrs. ****** states that the pictures are how we left her house…that’s not possible.  The pictures show an exposed muddy trench from a STILL BROKEN water line.  Our tech repaired the water line and backfilled.  Why would she pay for work that WASN’T done?  Why would she pay for us to LEAVE an exposed muddy trench with a broken water line? Both she and her son looked over the work before she paid.  Why would she pay if she was not satisfied with the work and there was work still to be done? I don’t know if the other party….the person or persons who were digging prior to our arrival…have refused to take responsibility or if she has even asked them.  But we cannot and will not take responsibility for someone else’s work.  Mrs. ****** still has not addressed the issue of another person digging on her property prior to our arrival. We have been truthful in all of our communications throughout this incident and resent the fact she is saying we have not been.
