March 2023. I took my 2022 taxes into Paychecks Plus and specifically, ******* ** ******** **** who I believe it part owner of the business. He assured me that my 2022 taxes would be filed on time. They were not. They were filed in June 2023. Because of that, I had a penalty of $129.89 for the Virginia tax penalty. I paid that penalty and took the bill and proof of payment to Paychecks Plus for reimbursement. Mr. ******* did reimburse me and advised me to not pay the penalty for the IRS, and instead bring the bill to him and he would try to get an abatement of the charge. However, When I took the IRS penalty bill of $503.41, which I received on July 12, 2023, to Mr. *******, I never heard a word from him. On Nov. 14, 2023 I received another penalty bill from the IRS and the amount had increased by that time, to $515.55. I called Paychecks Plus and spoke with **** *****, who also works in that office. After explaining everything to him, I was told that Mr. ******* was on vacation at that time, but he would look into it. I took the latest IRS bill to Mr. ***** on that same day, July 14, 2023. On Dec. 11, I received yet another penalty bill from the IRS for the amount of $519.52. I took the bill, once again to Paychecks Plus and then I paid it myself. I want to be reimbursed for this money. It was *******  *******'s fault that my taxes were filed late, not mine. Also, when my 2023 taxes were to be filed by another company, I found out that Mr. ******* had said I was dead! He had a death date for me in 2022. I had to pay another $500 deposit to the new company, just to withdraw the 2022 taxes, redo them, refile them with me being alive, and then filing the 2023 taxes, which have not been done to this date. I am very angry with Paychecks Plus and I deserve to be reimbursed the $519.52 plus the $500 deposit with the new company working on my 2023 taxes. Please help me.

We have reached out to Ms ***** to work out a solution and reimburse her penalties and interest as a result of anything we are liable for.  While I do agree we should have handled this situation better, there has been no evidence to her claim of us marking her deceased on her return.  We will continue to work with her again to resolve any issues she may have with our company.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I have attached a letter stating the reason for my complaint not being accepted by me. It would be very easy for them to reach me, which they have not done. Regards, **** ** *****

Our office will continue to reach out to Ms ***** to reimburse her for penalties and interest. We continue to stand by our position that her efiled return for 22 was not marked deceased.  Since the return was efiled, the IRS would surely have rejected our submission if we had marked deceased.  They cross reference their taxpayer records with Social Security, which would have triggered an error since she is indeed not deceased.I can't confirm her return was never marked as such.  She could have a copy with a whiteout mark where that may have been the case.  But again I can confirm her efiled and accepted return by the IRS did NOT have her marked dead.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. Regards, **** ** *****
