I bought a car wash at Tidal Wave Car Wash-Staunton, VA on 4/20/24 for $17. Staff offered other services including a membership at $29.97 per month. I declined that offer. He repeatedly tried to convince me to sign up for a membership. I repeatedly declined the offer. He then asked for my contact information so that the company can send me promotional specials. I verbally gave him my contact information. Later that day I received a text from Tidal Wave asking me to fill out some information to sign up for a membership. I assumed that this was a promotional text and I did not open the link. On 5/22/24, I noticed that I had been charged $29.97 on 5/20/24. I called the customer service phone number for Tidal Wave Car Wash, Inc. informing representative, *****, that I received a fraudulent charge from her company. ***** stated that this charge is for the monthly membership that "you signed up for". I told her that I had not signed up for a membership and had, in fact, declined the membership on 4/20/24. She said that they had texted a link to me to fill out a membership registration on their website and that I had done that. I told her that I did NOT fill out anything & asked for a refund. She refused to refund the $29.97. After thinking back to 4/20, I called back and spoke to customer service rep, ******. I told her the same information but told her that I now realize how my contact information was obtained: The employee I dealt with on 4/20/24 asked for my information so that they can send me promotional specials! She refused to credit me with the $29.97 charge. I told her that I hadn't signed up for a membership. She states that there are no forms to fill out and that they do "verbal agreements" for the monthly membership!
