I hired Richard L***, owner of Dive In Pools of Virginia, in July 2022 to replace the automatic pool cover at my home. He insisted he had the time and could save money because of his contacts and experience. I had just lost my husband and was going through the process to sell our home. Since L*** had done previous work satisfactorally, I agreed. He estimated the cost to be $8,000-$10,000. By September, L*** abandoned the job completely after being paid a total of $9,000. He refused to answers any calls and texts. He simply disappeared and left the new motor and tools abandoned. I had been under a lot of pressure to sell our home and to complete the replacement of the pool cover as the buyers expected. I worked diligently to find a reputable pool cover company to fix the mess L*** had made, while the pool sat 2/3 open and unprotected. Luckily, I was referred to a very good company who acted immediately to help and finished the job in a matter of hours, charging me what I'm sure was less than their normal fee. They are very good people. They took care of all necessary parts, etc. and my bill was $5,400. I want L*** to reimburse me for that cost since he was already paid $9,000.
