    I had an exceptional experience with Sunbum. There professionalism and upfront pricing was unmatched even after searching and meeting multiple companies both local and national. The process was explained clearly and value of the solar products are the best in the market. Kevin **** spent hours taking care of any questions and concerns from my family.

    Putting my review at a 2 star because this is definitely a case of caveat emptor aka "buyer beware."
    The installation was executed well but I would recommend anyone proceed with caution as I definitely feel as they though walked the line of capitalizing on a scam and honestly pushing you towards tax fraud.
    They will tout high end tax return savings that would only be produced by claiming the roof work as part of the solar install which is 100% tax fraud. When they are called out on it, they play stupid and suggest you consult with a tax professional.
    Ultimately they will break it down like this:
    * Expect *** a month in SRECs. - I've had one issued in 4 months for ***.
    * Expect $xxxxx.xx from tax credits - Expectations are not reality. I had to have them separate the roof costs from the solar so that I would not be committing fraud. This is a horrible and dishonest sales tactic.
    * Expect to save $xxx.xx on your power bill based off this chart - I question how these charts are even produced. If you examine the energy production ceiling for each panel, the math does not add up.
    Ultimately, I would say steer clear if you can. My goal was to just break even on the monthly payments on the solar loan by reducing my energy bill enough so that I would have a net zero payment.
    Instead I'm stuck with a monthly payment to them and maybe a 10-20% reduction in my energy bill.
    I would reduce them to 1-star if I weren't being objective, but they did do a good job with the roof install but this is ultimately a misleading product.
    My suggestion: STEER CLEAR

    Chris,
    I apologize for any confusion that may have been caused in our communications. However , I am glad to hear you are happy with the install. In regards to the federal tax credit, we are obligated to state that you should consult with your accountant or tax adviser as we are not accountants or certified CPA's. The lenders we use have the disclaimer in their documents and we have a disclaimer in our proposal as well. As we wanted you to be 100% satisfied, I emailed you on May 19,2022 stating that we would cancel your contract without any charges to you if you wanted to cancel due to any ambiguity related to the federal tax credit. You ultimately decided not to cancel and moved forward with the install of the new roof and a solar system.
    In regards to the savings on your power bill, I texted you on March 29, 2022 stating that based on the satellite software image of your home it appeared that 29 panels could possibly fit on your roof , and it was estimated that 29 panels would reduce your power usage by 55%. However , after an on site inspection and measuring of your roof , it was determined that only 22 panels would fit, which would reduce your usage by about 33%. The power bill usage data that you texted me showed annual kilowatt hour usage of 21,868 KWH's . Your Enphase system showed that the solar system generated 7,500 kilowatt hours from January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023 , which provided 34.2 % of your power usage and is slightly more than was estimated. So, you are getting way more than the 10%-20 % that you stated.
    I regards to the SREC's available to the passage of the Virginia Clean Economy Act, the prices for those is based on supply and demand and can and do fluctuate up or down. We have no control over those. Our role was to do the administrative work to get you set up to start getting paid for those, which we did for you. If you have any concerns over the payments, contact the aggregator that administers your account. In the future, if you have an service needs we are here to help.
