I spoke to the customer servive people at Trex before I decided to go with their product. I got the toasted sand boards and got my deck built. After it was all done, we noticed that the boards were curling up at the two ends. I called Trex and they put me onto their claims deparrment, who in turn asked me for pictures of the underside of the deck. They then came back to me a couple of weeks later to tell me the boards had been laid wrong. I had two other contractors come take a look and the County Inspector and they all informed me that there was nothing wrong in the construction of the deck. The problem according to all of them, was with the Trex boards. Trex never sent anyone out to look at the problem.

Deck Contractor in Portland installed composite decking in 2020. Two decks, front and back approximately 600 sqft combined. During install I was told the Trex composites come with a 25 year limited warranty. The total install cost was $24,000 ($10,000 for the back deck and $14,000 for the front deck). On both the decks, majority (90%) of the boards ave cracked along the edges. Brought it to the contractor's attention in Nov 2022. He contacted Trex and I, as the owner of the property was asked to file a warranty claim. Started the claims process in January 2023. Provided Trex claims representative with photos, invoices and also the contract agreement showing the install cost. On 02/15/2023 Trex, via their claims resolution rep made an offer. The offer was only a materials credit via the dealer where the original materials were bought. It does not
account for disposal of the damaged existing trex boards, installation of the new boards and labor. I declined the offer. A second offer on 02/16/2023 was made for cash but only for the boards as in the invoice. the cost of boards have doubled since 2020. Declined the offer.
I believe that Trex uses deceptive advertising and customers are not made aware of the details prior to the installation either by the contractors or clearly mentioned alongside the warranty logo.
The product did not even last more than two year before showing signs of deterioration.
Given the steep cost of installation and materials, I believe this company should be held liable for deceptive/false advertising.
Do not waste your money on this product. Trex response is a slap in the face when you file a claim and point out their defective material. Avoid this product and save your hard earned money!

Fascia boards warped terribly within the first year. Customer service stated that boards were installed incorrectly, however leftover boards that were stored in my garage, basement, and attic all warped as well. I would highly recommend looking at alternative composite decking options.

After trying to arrange my own contractor to build my deck, I found it would be a minor miracle to find anyone reliable. So I went to Lowes, thinking with their power/clout at least I would have a fighting chance if anything went wrong. Well everything did go wrong...Lowes hires their contractor, 5-star rated "Platinum" contractor who wouldn't respond and Lowes points the finger at the contractor for any problems. I call Trex because I thought their 20 year warranty would cover material that warps. That warranty they advertise is crap, so be warned. Nothing is covered!! They point the finger at the contractor saying it was poor installation. Their material warps severely and it's the contractors poor workmanship. The contractor refuses to answer my calls, a year and a half of text messages.....nothing! Two big names organizations refuse to take any responsibility blaming each other and saying the contractor is the problem. I paid $20,000 for a deck and unless I'm willing to call a lawyer and go to court, I have no recourse but to take the abuse. Fairness, customer service and taking responsibility for our actions is dead!!!

Mr. C******'s deck was installed by Decks Unlimited, which is one of Trex's "TrexPro Contractors." Mr. C****** is dissatisfied with certain aspects of the work performed by Decks Unlimited. TrexPro contractors are independent third party contractors who have been trained in the installation of Trex products. Trex provides contact information about TrexPro contractors on our website. However, we include the following disclaimer on our website: "Trex authorized dealers and TrexPro® deck builders are independently owned and operated, and are neither affiliated with nor agents or representatives of Trex Company, Inc. Trex Company makes no representations or warranties as to, and is not responsible for, the performance, acts or omissions of such parties. It is the ultimate responsibility of the property owner to select a Trex authorized dealer and/or a TrexPro® deck builder based upon their individual assessment of such dealer or contractor." We have made numerous attempts to ask that Decks Unlimited contact Mr. C****** concerning any outstanding issues on the deck. At this point, this is clearly a dispute between Mr. C****** and Decks Unlimited.
