I paid ****** for a van remodel to RV. They measured van for a bed lift in ceiling and asked how tall my bf is an accounted for room for him. Water tank was supposed to go in the floor. When I picked up the van the water tank was on the wall and they had to raise the floor 8 inches so I have no bed. ***** said "next time you do a build make sure that's your main focus". The build was divided in 3 phases but I was not allowed to discuss anything outside of the phase they were currently on but nothing was completely discussed *********** wasn't given a plan like I was told. I did give ***** a drawing I had done for what I wanted it to look like on day one but he didn't go by it. They put the toilet in incorrectly and I had to have it redone. I was supposed to get 2 upper cabinets and 2 closet doors. They ran out of time but ***** said if I paid for ***** they would mail them to me. Since I've gotten the van back they say they ran out of money so I'm not get cabinets or doors. But I was told it was included in my quote. I was repeatedly told by ***** "we are doing you a favor" and was told "you're stubborn" bc I wanted an opening out my back doors which was on the plan I gave him day 1. He also charged me for an extra 5 hrs of design time bc he designed the back of van before we were even to that phase and had not discussed that section with me. He also asked me to buy the entire staff pizza and beer bc again "they were doing me a favor". Me paying almost $41,000 of my hard earned money isn't a favor. They are very disorganized for a business and also make a lot of promises but don't actually go through with it. In my quote it says they would use 1/2 inch plywood but they used 1/4 inch plywood. This caused a huge problem when trying to finish the van and install ************* ceiling tile. The walls in the van are off so the electrical outlets stick out significantly but there's no way to fix that now. Rebought 2 cabinets $300 each plus tax & shipping $300 for 1 door.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/29/2022

The complaint filed is not a truthful account of the transaction. The final phase of the project was completed and paid for in full on 7/1/22. Upon completion of the project, the client picked up their vehicle and expressed nothing but gratitude, joy, and satisfaction, as she had done for each previously completed phase of her project. She made several site visits throughout the process and also had the van between phases when possible since the van was also her daily driver. The focus of the project was to maximize her budget and our schedule to get as much of the "big picture" items to make the van livable before either exhausting available time or budget. It was agreed upon that we wouldn't spend money or time on details that she could tackle once the bulk of the build was done. We worked closely together throughout the entire build process. It was a fluid process and decisions were made along the way. Each time a decision point was reached, options were explained with regard to value, budget, and time and each decision was mutually agreed upon; other than the placement of the toilet which did in fact get mounted in the wrong location. She made no indication this was a problem at the time. If she had, we would have been more than willing to move the mounting plate from one wall to the other, since the toilet was installed, as requested, to be removable for full use of the shower.

    FAQ

    Regards,

    *******

I am not satisfied with their response 1) they charged me for 1/2 inch plywood throughout my entire van but only used 1/4   2) I was charged 5 extra hours of design time b/c ******************* up the living section of van before discussing it with me.  I had already given a plan I had drawn up myself that he didn't bother to look at and b/c of that he did NOT leave an opening in the back for me to get out.  So I was charged another 5 hours for his mistake.  3) I was supposed to get 2 upper cabinets and 2 closet doors.  ***** said they were running out of time and if I paid them the shipping fees they would mail the 2 upper cabinets and 2 closet doors to me but now refuse.  ***** does not know how to manage money or time but I should still receive what I paid for.  I have already purchased 2 upper cabinets and would like what I paid for them refunded to me plus the 5 hours of design time.  Cabinets $650 and 5 hours of design time $625 =1275.

    Thank you
