** is a valuable service; however, the company apparently does not have any employees other than the founders. I purchased a gift card and their system allegedly did not process my payment claiming an error had been made. I checked the information entered, found it to be correct and proceeded to order again. I got the same error message. However, their system did process both order payments, thus I got double charged. Their website does not list a phone number; thus, I had to find it via the BBB. I called and left a message briefly explaining the issue.

I participated in a Meal Train campaign recently to help out a member of my church. Instead of scheduling myself to drop off a meal, I elected to send a Door Dash gift card. I got a confirmation e-mail from The Gift Card Shop then a thank-you e-mail two minutes later from MealTrain.com. It posted to my bank account and I later received a thank-you message from the recipient as well. In short, my payment was processed and the digital gift card was delivered via e-mail as expected. The problem is, the following day, I received e-mail from The Gift Card Shop & Meal Train with the subject line "Wrap Up Your Thoughtful Gesture". This really confused me because my transaction appeared final the previous day. The body of the e-mail read like this: "Meal Train + Powered by TheGiftCardShop, DoorDash 1 x DoorDash $50.00. Subtotal $50.00, Complete Order [button]. Just a click away if you want to complete your order." I logged into my bank account to double-check and saw the $50 charge from the previous day there. However, this e-mail made it appear that my transaction never processed. I decided to ignore it since I knew for sure that my payment had posted, but I couldn't ignore it for long because the very next day (which was yesterday) they e-mailed me again. The subject line was slightly different, "Complete Your Heartfelt Purchase," but the body of the e-mail looked almost identical to the previous one. Since this has happened twice now, I've decided to post a review so that others are not fooled. This website is supposed to help families (in my case, spiritual family) during times of crisis. Instead, they're using people's life catastrophes to send these dishonest e-mails to make it look like gift card donations never went through. This is unethical and it needs to stop.

BE AWARE! BEFORE YOU MAKE A DONATION! They do NOT clearly reveal the amount Meal Train keeps for themselves. Meal Train is advertised as a FREE app to create a calendar to organize a meal plan for someone you choose. Great for births, deaths, illness etc. and that part is free. HOWEVER IF YOU DONATE MONEY they do NOT OPENLY REVEAL that 8% of your donation is kept by them and does NOT go to the recipient. (PLATFORM FEE OF 5% plus the typical 2.9% + $.30 credit card fee charged by other crowdfunders) 8% of what you give never makes it too the person you are trying to help! Donate $100? $8.00 of your donation goes into their pockets! I had to dig for the information but found it buried in their Terms of Service. That information should be made clear upfront! Their reply to my email? Basically, that makes up for the free portion of the platform. Nothing answering why the 5% is not revealed to donors before they approve their monetary donation. From their website: ******************************************************************* will automatically deduct a 5% platform fee from each Donation received. In addition, a 2.9% + $.30 financial transaction/credit card processing fee will apply to each donation to cover payment processing fees applied by our payment processor, Stripe.com
