I had an extremely disappointing experience with Shipee Family ********* During a routine eye exam, which should have been fully covered by my VSP vision insurance, they also charged my health insurance (Cigna). This resulted in me receiving a bill for over $180 for a routine visit that should have cost me nothing. When I called to question this, they claimed the additional charge was because of a medical diagnosis. During the appointment, I mentioned a concern about seeing colors differently in one eye, to which the doctor simply replied that I should speak with my primary care physician. No medical advice, tests, treatments, or follow-up were provided regarding this concern. It seems this was enough for them to bill my health insurance, despite the lack of any actual medical service related to the issue. This experience has made me wary of answering eye doctors questions honestly, fearing that it might lead to unexpected charges. Its unacceptable that this kind of greedy behavior is causing patients to hesitate in discussing their health concerns, which can have serious implications for overall well-being.I would not recommend Shipee Family ******** to anyone. Their practices put profits above patient care, and this level of disregard for patients is appalling.

      Hi *****,
We are sorry to hear your review, as it has been several years since your visit when this occurred (2021).  After speaking with you and your insurance company, we thought we had offered you a resolution at the time of 25% off your medical expenses, as much of the covered charges were applied to your deductible.

Because of your symptom complaint, our doctor felt it was medically necessary to monitor this condition and to document your symptoms. This resulted in a medical diagnosis code, as it is not a routine vision complaint.  We conduct thorough medical evaluations for the health and wellbeing of our patients and their overall care.  Unfortunately, your routine vision coverage denied some of your exam for that reason, so the remainder was billed to your medical insurance where you had not met your deductible.

It was never monitored, and no medical advice was given. You should have charged only my vision insurance instead of both my vision and health for the same routine exam.
