On 11/25/2022, for a car repair service at Midas, *******, **, I was charged $381.89. I dispute their charge.1) They performed services I haven't authorized. I brought the car in for exhaust repair. I specifically instructed them in writing not to perform the state inspection until that repair is done. That repair was not done that day because the parts needed to be ordered. Yet, I was billed for inspection. I do not know why I was billed for an inspection, that I asked NOT to be done, unless repairs, I acknowledged that needed to be done, were completed. I was also, actually, billed for the "state sticker" as a part received, but I did not find the sticker affixed to my windshield. I should not be asked to pay for parts not received. I did not even realize I was billed for inspection until I reviewed the bill at home.2) Furthermore, I was overcharged for parts. For one allegedly bad rubber bushing, they changed an entire control arm. I paid $182.24 for part #***-832. Which I later found far cheaper in 3 separate locations:https://www.partsgeek.com/ss/?i=1&ssq=***-832 - $85.43 https://www.amazon.com/******-***-832-Control-Front-Passenger/dp/B01300HWSY - $83.99 https://www.carparts.com/details/Subaru/Outback/TrueDrive/Control_Arm/2013/REPS281539.html - $52.49 3) In the lengthy write-up of everything that is wrong with my, otherwise perfectly fine, driving vehicle, they noted that there was no oil in the car and that there was an oil leak (they did not mention that to me in person). I checked the engine oil and the engine afterward and the oil level was appropriate and there were no signs of any leakage. 4) there is no explanation for the item "misc. supply" ($17.70) in the bill, and I don't know why should I pay that $170 should be taken off that bill, $50 for unauthorized inspection, $100 for the overcharged part, and $20 for the unidentifiable charge. I would agree to pay the revised amount.

Customer needed other work done for ************* Inspection and declined quoted work. It is part of our practice (and many other garages in surrounding areas) to charge for state inspection whether you pass or fail as we spend an hour checking vehicle out. However, when repairs are made, with in 30 days, customers are not charged for sticker twice. Customer called and i explained what our SUPPLY charge is, it is items that cannot be itemized such as lubricants, gaskets, tools etc. Things we buy in bulk that we use on almost every job. Every invoice has them and this practice is pretty well known in the automotive industry. When i spoke with customer i told him i would be happy to refund inspection charge if he did not want to go through with repairing vehicle for sticker and apologized for any miscommunication on our end. At this point, there is nothing more we can do for customer if he is not in contact with us directly.
