      We rented out Guemes Island Resort for a weekend in May. Total cost is $10,000 for ***** guests staying overnight for 2 nights. With limited space available to cook and serve food for our guests at Guemes Island Resort, we identified the Windward House as the perfect setup for us to do so safely and efficiently. We were interested in the back patio and lawn for hosting our family meals. In communicating with the Resort, we asked to add the Windward House to our reservation, which they manage. Upon reviewing the Windward House Agreement, I noticed the policy states an exception is needed from the owner to use the property for our interested purpose. I reached out to the property manager at Guemes Island Resort to inquire how to submit a formal request for an exception consideration so wed be in compliance with policy. The property manager stated she already discussed our request with the owner and didnt allow us to submit a formal request for consideration. The property manager doesnt have all of the details for our family meals therefore misrepresented us, preventing us from getting an exception before we even had the opportunity to submit anything for consideration. The property manager states our request was completely denied by the owner verbally on the phone due to the property being only allowed for accommodations, and not to exceed 15 overnight guests. The policy explicitly states that exceptions to both of those statements can be made by the owner. They wouldnt work with us to find a resolution for all interested parties and instead repeatedly cited a portion of their policy without the exception language. We just found out they have never authorized an exception to the policy, therefore falsely advertising that they may.While we did not commit to a contract due to this issue, we were planning to pay the additional $4,500 rental fee for 3 day usage and take all liability.

      To Whom It May ************************* Complaint ID ******** against Guemes Island Resort, I would like to clarify that the complaint states the Complainant is taking issue with being denied the rental of a private residence, Windward House, that is only managed by Guemes Island Resort, but is not part of the resort itself. Windward House is an adjacent property that is privately owned. The Complainant is taking issue with the rules and restrictions of the private rental. As a private residence, Windward House sets its own rules, restrictions and guidelines that are required and must be agreed to by renters when renting the property. If someone does not agree with the restrictions and/or guidelines, they are under no obligation to rent the property.

      The Complainant has a Rent-a-Resort wedding contract with Guemes Island Resort. I do not see any mention in the complaint regarding a problem with the contract between the Complainant and Guemes Island Resort; therefore, the complaint against Guemes Island Resort is unfounded and inappropriate.
