RG construction over promised and under delivered. In our consultation we clearly communicated our goals and budget. We were told we would be able to achieve our goals within our budget. We hired RG construction and had our first walkthrough with the design team. They had about eight people over to our house for this meeting. The employees seemed more interested in hanging out with each other than talking about our project. I felt like I had a hard time getting a word in and remember wondering when we were going get past the small talk and start talking about the project. Our first meeting in their office for the initial design presentation I knew there was a big problem. In retrospect at this point we should have talked with RG about ending the relationship. We comunicated our concerns and were assured they could make it right. During our business relationship RG did not seem to have time for us. They missed meetings. They dropped the ball on commitments. At one point they called to cancel an appointment while we were on the way. It seems like communication within the office is poor. After every failure no apologies were given. Our final quote ended up being 3x what we were expecting. We know they are a business that needs to keep their lights on and pay their employees, so we only asked for a partial refund. Instead, they sent us a bill that included their accounting departments time to bill us, their receptionist time to answer the phone, their design teams time to not show up to our meetings, and their team managers time that we were told was not billable. At this point I lost hope they were going to be fair or reasonable.

attached is Mr. and Mrs. ****** signed design deposit agreeement - accepting that if they did not move forward with construction - their deposit was forfeited to cover the design work.

as noted on the agreement - there is substantial work that goes into the feasibility, planning and design work for each project - whether we are awarded it or not.  therefore the design deposit is intended to cover those costs.

our billing rates are very reasonable and standard (or less) than other design firms.

we presented multiple variations of quotes to ************** (per his request/direction after multiple quote appointments) and he was not able to move forward on construction at this time.

we understand this is disapointing and for us too - however, the actual billing amount would have been over $12,000 if billed out at rates, and we already adjusted off the overage, and considered it paid in full at $10,000.
