I hired Mr. ********************** to apply some earhtquake straps on my water heater. I paid them $276 for this service. I watched the installer yank on the water heater to ensure it was secure. I opened the water heater closet the next day and the ******* on top of the water heater causing me to have to get an emergency plumber out to replace both ******* at a cost of $486.08 I have text messages from the owner of the business stated he would cover the cost of the repair. Today I got a phone call stating just the opposite that they would not cover the repair

******************* did raise a concern that we caused damaged to her water heater. The first complaint was on a Friday, and a plumber who happened to be onsite repaired it for no charge. On Sunday morning, she texted me and said it was an emergency and the other one had failed. I couldn't get *********** to review and not wanting to cause any damage I said I would pay for the plumber to repair - and he did for a total of $486.08.

Her complaint was that ************** strongly shoke the earthquake straps on the water heater and caused damage.

After discussions with ************** and her plumber off-line, we discovered there were a variety of elements to her story that were not accurate, and even in her plumbers' opinion there was no evidence that we caused the damage. The piping was old and in need of repair, and there were a wide variety of factors that could have caused the issue.

Nevertheless, since we had made a committment to her, we had a conversation with her and she demanded either that we pay the plumbers' bill as promised or a minimum that we refund her the service charge on the earthquake straps. Even though we provided a valuable service, and added earthquake straps to her water heaters, as a goodwill gesture - and as one of the options she requested - we issued the attached refund check - which she has cashed.

Therefore, in our opinion, we have met the customer more than halfway to resolution, issued a refund that wasn't required but was issued in good faith. The only thing we didn't do was refund the $486 plumbers payment that I indicated we would pay - but after some routine investigation - I discovered that the payment was inappropriate.

If the BBB determines that we need to take an alternate approach, we are happy to comply.

PS - The $215 refund was the $276 refund minus the actual cost of the earthquake straps - which of course were left in place. We refunded our service charges.
