*************************** sent two employees on our private property without our permission to take pictures in our back yard. The two employees lied and said they had the permission from ***** PUD to be in our back yard and the *****************************. I check with ***** PUD and the Sheriff, both of which did not give this company permission to trespass on private property. When we asked the employees to leave, they refused and continued to take pictures, then made political and religious slurs towards myself and my husband. I called the i2i complaint line and the person who answered, then hung up on me when I tried to file a complaint. This company should not be hired to perform network analysis and their employees are not professional.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/26/2024

i2i takes all feedback seriously and strives to conduct our work professionally, within the bounds of the law, and with respect for all individuals.
We would like to address the incident at *********************************** August 22, 2024, and provide clarification regarding your concerns.

      Work Location and Purpose
Our team was conducting a safety and internet survey for Ziply Fiber to evaluate a potential pole application. This work was performed entirely within the designated utility easement between 5104 and 5019, as permitted by Washington State law (RCW 80.36.020), which grants access to such areas for examining, locating, and surveying utility lines. At no point did our team enter or photograph areas beyond the utility easement, nor did they trespass on private property.

Interaction with *************************** approached our team, he immediately expressed hostility, shouting obscenities before our team could explain their purpose. Believing the situation stemmed from a misunderstanding, the senior team member attempted to de-escalate by showing identification and providing an informational card that outlined the purpose of their work. Despite this explanation, Mr. ***** became increasingly confrontational, clenched his fists, threatening physical harm by stating he would punch [our team member] in the face if they continued their work. Concerned for their safety, our team decided to leave the area while Mr. ***** continued verbal abuse and aggressively advanced toward them.

Phone Call with Our Operations Manager
Shortly after the incident, Mr. ***** contacted our operations manager. During this call, Mr. ***** confirmed his threats and continued using obscenities. The manager attempted to address the situation professionally but ultimately ended the call when it became clear that a constructive resolution was not possible.

      Law Enforcement and Follow-Up
i2i has a long-standing policy of notifying police dispatch prior to conducting work in a new area. This notification is intended to preemptively inform law enforcement in case concerned residents call; we do not seek permission, as none is required to access utility easements. Following the incident, a police officer spoke with our team and reassured them that they had done nothing wrong and were free to return to complete their work.

      Context of the Incident
Upon further review, we have come to understand that this issue appears to stem from a long-standing effort to have the utility poles removed, rather than specific concerns about our team performing their survey. While we acknowledge the residents frustrations with this broader issue, we must emphasize that our team was operating within their legal rights and was not involved in decisions about the placement or removal of utility poles.

      Commitment to Professional Standards
We understand the importance of respecting the communities where we work. However, we categorically refute claims that our team lied about permissions, trespassed on private property, or made inappropriate remarks. Such actions are entirely inconsistent with our policies and values. Our team conducted themselves professionally within their legal rights and responsibilities while prioritizing safety in response to an escalating situation.

We regret any discomfort caused and remain open to discussing this matter further to provide any additional clarification. Please feel free to contact us directly as required.
