The cashier told me I couldnt shop with my backpack and had to leave it at the register. Mind you I have been to this store over the years, my parents also shop here frequently for their lower prices. Ive also been to different locations with a backpack. Never has there been any indication that backpacks were not allowed. As they were telling me, a couple walked past and both of them had on a back pack. When I questioned them about it they didnt have an answer however the manager happened to appear right on time and her response was that she knows them and that they come here everyday. so I told them I will not spend my money here since theyre picking and choosing based on no valid reason who gets to shop in the store with a backpack. It sounds more like they profiled me based on my appearance, how I was dressed in a thick jacket with a furry hood and sweatpants and sneakers. I would even like to go as far as being racially profiled as I dont appear white Im Asian but its hard to know for sure only can see Im not white. The couple wearing the backpacks were most likely Hispanic although one appeared more white looking so Im not sure. They claimed that it was a new policy then later claimed its an old policy since the last owner. I left the store on my own accord

      Hello,

      I'm very sorry this happened.

I recently took over ownership of the store and have reviewed this incident with pertinent employees and how to handle things like this in the future.  There was a policy like that in the past, however we have since discontinued it.  We want you and everyone else to feel welcome to shop here. Please feel free to give me a call anytime if you'd like to discuss further.

      Thanks,
