This transport service seems to act in a predatory manner with a vulnerable population. Ambulance services are not regulated by the state insurance commissioner so they continue to practice in a predatory manner. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. SEEK ALTERNATE MEANS OF TRANSPORT. They bill for services using an incorrect billing code which causes the claim to be denied by ********* They will not correct / resubmit even when hospital staff indicate that ambulance service was medically necessary and are in the position of arranging transport on discharge. This is a known issues and a matter of frequent complaint. It feels like predatory behavior with a vulnerable consumer who is neither in a position to make different transport choices nor is made aware of the excessive / uncovered charges in advance.

We use a 3rd party billing service that nearly every fire department in the state uses as well.  Ambulance billing is heavily regulated.  ******** requires all ambulance services to submit billing with a ** modifier code when it does not meet medical necessity of ********.  ******** does not rely on the physician or any medical staff to determine medical necessity, ******** determines necessity. The billing company is required to submit with the ** modifier and if they don't, ******** considers this fraud.  It would be illegal to submit another modifier asking for payment when they know it does not meet necessity.  With that being said,  we would be happy to research the transport and see if they truly did not use the correct modifier.  We will need patient name, billing account number, and date of service.  We also have a charity program if you need assistance with payment. You can request the forms from the billing company. Please email me if you want us to research further.   Thank you

Company did not get required medical necessity paperwork to **** ********* so charged $1300 for ambulance from *************** to skilled facility a few blocks away without informing family of charges. Patient did qualify for Medical Necessity, and they should know that as professionals. Other ambulance companies make sure they have the paperwork. The hospital also should have had the paperwork available for them, but ***** was doing the ****ing, so ultimately their responsibility. Instead NW Amb makes the patient have to follow up with appeals to insurance and seemingly hope they'll give up and pay the exorbitant price, which in many cases they probably do..... Poor ethical practice in my opinion.I am writing this to notify others to beware and hopefully so that the company will change its unfair practices.
