On July 21, 2022, I contracted with Greenwood to install a mini-split HVAC system. The contract included the following guarantees: "If something we installed is not up to the highest of industry standards and performing properly, for the level of system purchased, we will make all the necessary corrections.""Contractor guarantees that the two ********** warranties comprise full coverage of all repair costs. If the system undergoes annual preventive maintenance by a qualified professional, Contractor will promptly perform any and all warranty repairs at no cost to Customer."One of the condensate system's condensate drain lines developed a leak. I requested the company to fix the leak -- by phone on July 31, 2024, and by email on August 1, 2024. The company sent an email August 1, 2024, refusing to fix the leak.Greenwood also failed to provide the contractually promised ********** warranty that would have covered the repair if Greenwood reneged.Consequently, I paid $462.57 out of pocket for the repair of the leak in the drain line. I request that Greenwood reimburse this amount.Business Response

Hello,
In or around May of 2023 we agreed to a settlement with Mr. ***** regarding the work at his home. The settlement included a mutual release and forever discharged us from any future claims regarding the system at Mr. ******* home.

I am rejecting this response because it is patently false. I did not agree to any settlement of any kind, let alone one that "included a mutual release and forever discharged" Greenwood Heating "from any future claims regarding the system at Mr. ******* home." If Greenwood believes such a settlement exists, I request that Greenwood provide BBB and me a copy of the signed document.
Sincerely,
******* *****Business Response

Hello,
I was under the impression the Settlement Agreement provided to Mr. ***** was signed. After checking with our counsel it appears the agreement was not signed. I apologize for the confusion. We will reimburse Mr. ***** the $462.57 he incurred, as this was an installation issue and not an equipment failure. Any equipment failures will be directed to the Extended Warranty purchased and agreed to prior. Please see the note from our counsel for full context of the situation.
From our Counsel:
We have reviewed our files and need to provide some clarification as to the dispute between Greenwood and Mr. ****** For some background, the dispute centers on an **** system contract dated July 21, 2022. The contract was not Greenwoods usual form, it was presented by Mr. ****** The contract was signed by a sales representative of Greenwood without the authorization of the company or the knowledge that Greenwoods standard contract was not utilized. One line item created by Mr. ***** was for a ********** 12-year extended labor warranty (allegedly valued at $813.00). However, after signing the contract and bringing it to the attention of Greenwood, the parties learned that ********** does not provide a 12-year extended warranty. Greenwood had otherwise performed its contractual obligations and installed the **** system as agreed.
In or around April 2023,half of the purchase price due under contract remained unpaid by Mr. ******Greenwood reached out to discuss the amounts owed and seek a mutually agreed resolution. To resolve the dispute, Greenwood offered to provide Mr. ***** with a substantially equivalent 12-year warranty from *******************, in lieu of the ********** warranty (that does not exist). Mr. ***** then sent an email on April 25, 2023 accepting the offer. Mr. ***** was presented with a settlement agreement and mutual release. Mr. ***** refused to sign the settlement agreement. However, he did pay the remaining amount due under the contract around late May or June 2023. In checking our emails, the last correspondence it appears we received from ******** was on May 15, 2023, when he asked for a link to pay the outstanding balance.Customer Answer

I accept part of the response but also reject other parts of it.I accept Greenwood's agreement to "reimburse Mr. ***** the $462.57 he incurred."
I reject the assertions that the substitute warranty is "substantially equivalent" to the contractually promised warranty and that "Any equipment failures will be directed to the Extended Warranty purchased and agreed to prior." The substitute warranty I accepted on April 25, 2023, is substantially inferior to the contractually promised warranty. It satisfied part but not all of Greenwood's contractual obligations. I do not agree to waive any of Greenwood's other contractual obligations.
Sincerely,
******* *****Initial Complaint

Greenwood Heating installed a faulty thermostat on 12/18/2023. for the total of ********. It is now Apr,25th 2024. This faulty thermostat led to a power surge that has PSE bills totaling ******* for the 3 months of the heat + air conditioner + fan being run simultaneously. The heat would not shut off! We had Greenwood come out to fix the problem 6 times!!! Each time they tried to charge us, even though we had bought a warranty with them. During the freeze here, before they installed the new thermostat, they left us in the freezing weather with no heat. Because the power surged with the heating, cooling, and fan running (no shutoff button for fan), wires melted in the breaker panel, and we had to get a new breaker panel. Beacon came and we have paid ********* dollars. PSE ascertained that the power surge started in Dec and Jan of 2023 when they pinged the meter and found nothing wrong with it. That meant the problem was from inside. Now I have outrageous electric bills I cannot pay!Business Response

My husband and I bought a 22k unit from them with a 10 year labor and parts warranty. They are refusing to service us based on me not working there anymore, have falsely accuse me of attacking them online and say due to me working for another HVAC company they will not be servicing our equipment and are breaking the 10 year parts and labor warranty that came with the unitBusiness Response

Hello,
It appears ************** is requesting a refund for the Line Item Task: Acce17 "12-Year Labor Warranty" on the invoice she provided.
But if you look at the invoice she attached with her complaint you will see there is a 'Zero' in the quantity column and the total for that line item is $0.00.
We did not charge for this item and we did not collect for this item so therefore we will not be refunding anything for this item.
Sincerely,

I called Greenwood Heating to come out and diagnose and fix my furnace when it stopped working. They had originally installed it and did previous repairs and maintenance. They came out more than once but were not able to "diagnose and fix" my furnace or give me a solution to get it working. After the last guy left and the heat continued to not work I called back three times and did not get a call back. I was able to speak to someone the next morning and I asked that they refund my money since I had to call another company to come out and fix my furnace when they did not call me back as the temperatures were dropping. I was told someone would return my call but they never did. Since they were never able to diagnose and fix the furnace I would like my money back and would like the scheduled maintenance fee for the upcoming year reimbursed since I do not want to do business with them again.Business Response
