On 5/17/2023 we paid Dark Horse $125 to serve papers on a smalls claims court we had, and $50 for filing the papers with the court, (receipts attached) after they were served. We also paid Dark Horse $87.47 on 5/25/2023 to run a comprehensive skip trace, because as Dark Horse stated that they recommended the more expensive skip trace because in the past the cheaper one doesn't find anything (attached).On 6/14/2023, after never receiving any updates or responses on what was going on, we sent Dark Horse a letter by email cancelling their service with us and requesting a refund of $230 , which is everything we paid for, minus 1 serve attempt at $31.25. They had only attempted 1 service, as per their ************ where it shows GPS and the day and time they tried. We cancelled Dark Horse and on 6/15/2023 hired Premium Process Servers and for a cost of $85 , Premium Process served the papers we had needed to be served on 6/16/2023.#1 Dark Horse never filed any papers with the court so the $50 court filing fees needs to be refunded.We feel Dark Horse should refund back for attempts not gone on and a comprehensive skip trace not done.Business Response

upon accepting the job from the client I went to the address they provided to attempt to serve the individual. It turned out to be a bad address. under normal circumstances I would have charges another fee to attempt a different address but the lady I spoke with had explained they didn't have alot of money so I agreed to try to find the person they wanted served without additional fees except for the skip trace fee only because I get charged for the skip trace by the company I go through. The skip trace did not give any useful information. I then started getting messages that this person was in ****** but they didn't know the address. I spent 3 or 4 late nights on my computer trying to track the person i was supposed to be serving down. Then I get a phone call from the client demanding a full refund. I did the initial job I was hired to do completely. I even tried to go above and beyond to help them. I spent at least 15 to 20 hours over the course of time I worked with this client trying to find the person they wanted served. I am very sorry I was not able to find the person they wanted served as I stated during our last conversation, unfortunately it does happen. During our last phone conversation the client demanded I refund them and became verbally aggressive. I tried to calmly explain that I had been completed the job they initially hired me for and I was trying to help them by not charging additional fees. She yelled at me and hung up. A few weeks later i got a letter in the mail demanding a full refund. I again called and told her that I didn't owe her a refund. I guess that is why she is now making a complaint against me. Again I am sorry I couldn't find the guy they wanted served.Business Response

I did also file the affidavit of non service with the court as requested for the bad address. I mailed the conformed hard copy to the client as requested. The phone I had when I attempted thus serve had the screen go out so I cannot access the pictures I took when I made my attempt to the bad address. Also I am not using ************* and cannot access the affidavit or case files due to ending my subscription with servenmanager.Business Response

My fee for serving in Mason County is 125.00
That includes up to 4 service attempts at 1 address. I also charge ********************************* Mason ********************** usually charge ***** for a comprehensive skip trace. I get charged by the company I use for skip tracing so I have to charge the client.

I am rejecting this response because: Dark Horse is not telling the truth about anything. the $125 we paid was for 4 attempts, see attached, and only 1 attempt was made, see attached. Also, no one mentioned ******, see attached, I gave her information that he lived 1 miles from fire station on Old ******* Highway, see attached. and finally we need to be reimbursed the $50 we paid for Dark Horse to file papers with the court, which they didn't do! Why are we paying for filing papers that were never done! Also, *** would never call me back so there was no hanging up on the phone, all communication was from me trying to get a hold of her and trying to get an update. Finally, we want the $50 we paid for filing papers paid back because she didn't file any papers for us. (paid invoice attached)

all of the information I have on this case was loaded into my serve manager which I do not have access to since I canceled my subscription. serves are up to 4 attempts per address. I do not price out attempts individually. the pictures I took are on my other phone which the screen quit working on so all of my phone calls to that number are forwarded to ************ at this time. I am trying to find a way in getting my pictures removed from that phone since there are also other pictures I need off it as well. a few months back my house was robbed and I had alot of my documents and other paperwork destroyed in the process. I will go through what I have to see if I can find the conformed copy of the filing that I did and I will contact serve manager and see if they can get me a copy of this client's job details. ********** who is I use for skip traces is owed money and I will not be able to get the skip trace until I pay them which I do plan on paying by the end of this month. I can go to the house of the guy that was the original address and get a statement from him about me being there and it being the wrong address if that would be helpful. other than that it is going to be at least a month or so before I can do anything else. I did exactly what I said I was going to do for these clients and even went above what I have or would do for anyone else. because of this client I will never offer anything extra for anyone else due to having accusations like these thrown at me for trying to be nice. again I do not price out individual attempts. everyone pays the same service fee no matter if it takes 1 or 4 attempts and regardless of if I am successful or not. additional addresses are priced as a new job, not carried over from a previous one. also I usually charge for internet searches by the hour as well which I didn't in this case.

I am rejecting this response because: Their response was just a bunch of excuses why their service was crappy when all we want is to be paid back the $50 we paid for them to file paperwork with the court refunded back to us (paid invoice attached). They never got the papers signed SO THEY DIDN'T FILE THEM WITH THE COURT. We want the $50 back- the service of filing court papers never happened.

On March 9 at 11pm, an agent of Dark Horse Legal Services contacted me over the phone and was claiming they found my dog. He said he found my dog and was going to take my dog with him instead of leaving him at home, he was going to steal my dog. I called the police gave them the number and in a few minutes was contacted by the police saying they were on my property and this company was trying to serve papers. I spoke with DHLS and he told me a bunch more lies. My brother went to speak with him and more lies. We asked him to leave our property and he refused. I was an hour away and not going home that night. This agent went to my neighbors, looked in their vehicles, looked in their chicken coop, put their lights on shining in their house blasting the horn and sent a video of it to me. I said that wasnt my house and he said that hed refuse to stop harassing everyone until they told him where I was and that the neighbors would hate me for his intrusion. He then went to my mothers and harassed her, shes 74years old and was afraid. He took pictures of my mothers license plate and threatened her. I called the police, my sister called the police 2x and after pleading with the officer, this man was removed from our property and was barred from coming back to service papers until the next day after 11am. This isnt the entire story, it gets worse. DHLS attempted to serve papers to be again a few days later and the papers were wet, crumpled, and didnt have an legal cover sheet. The papers were not filled with the court and incomplete. DHLS harassed my former employer on the weekend making claims that were made in the legal documents they were not allowed to read, they lied which theyre not allowed to do, harassed us and trespassed on the wrong properties also illegal. They submitted a false statement in their affidavit. If you use them for legal work, they will break the law and your case will be dropped. The case against me was dropped. They are morally corrupt scum.Business Response

I am the owner of Dark Horse Legal Services. I contracted ************************ to serve documents for my company. ***** was an independent contractor and not directly employed by Dark Horse Legal Services. After ***** served **************** I informed him that his tactics were not within the parameters of the law but also against my company standards. I gave him a verbal warning and explained I would not tolerate this kind of behavior from any of my contractors and if it happened again I would no longer be using his services. About 2 weeks later he unplugged a lady's 5th wheel attempting to get her to come out to be served. ***** took video of the whole thing. After reviewing the video I told him that was again against my company's standard and told him we would no longer be using him. I would like to officially extend my sincere apologies to **************** for ******* behavior. My company does not condone nor tolerate such behavior. This is not the normal for my company. I and any other Independent contractors who collaborate with us are expected to and uphold a higher standard than what was exhibited by Mr. *****************************
