      The bank is not honoring their checks when I drove through their *********************************************** location. None of the other branches I go to or have been to have this problem. Until it is fixed, I will not be accepting any payment through this financial institution. My customers are upset, but I cannot accept payment if timberland will not honor checks just because I do not have an account through them.

      Thank you for your inquiry. Timberland Bank policy requires non-customers to come into a branch to cash a check. Our policy does not permit non-customers to cash checks through the drive-up windows and the *********************** is appropriately following internal security procedures. We are more than happy to cash any Timberland Bank checks inside one of our 23 local branches.

      I am rejecting this response because:

       

      I will continue to not accept timberland bank payments until the policy is fixed then. It is not a security breach, it's the same process in person or drive thru, and if was then all branches would follow this. Considering the issue only arises at this branch says that it is not standard procesure. I will direct any customer complaints to ********************, I have already dropped 2 customers for failed payment due to checks not being honored. Explain it how you like, but it only happens at this branch, and I'm no longer accepting it. I'll also be offering customers who bank with timberland a discount to switch to another financial institution if they would like to continue doing business with me.

      *************** was servicing a loan for a property my wife and I owned in ***** County, ** Tax Parcel# ************; on 3/30/2022 we received the payoff document because we wanted to sell the property, the payoff amount we received from Timberland Bank determined how much we would sell the property for. We put our property up for sale and on July 14, 2022, we entered into escrow. The title company requested for the payoff information on two separate occasions, the most recent being 8/18/2022, a day before escrow closing. It is now 8/24/2022 and Timberland Bank has not reconveyed the property. Instead, Timberland Bank contacted me via email stating their computer system did not generate the penalty for early payoff before they submitted the payoff documents to myself on 3/30/2022 and to the Escrow agent on two separate occasions during escrow. A prepayment penalty of $31,466.32 Timberland Bank wants us to pay after escrow closed on 8/19/2022 and that they are not going to reconvey the property until it has been paid, and that they are holding the payoff money they received from escrow. I dont see how their system error is our problem nor how it is the problem of the buyers after escrow has been closed. Timberland Bank had plenty of time to figure their issue out and fix it. Now the title is being held hostage due to Timberland Banks critical error.
