On Friday May 9th, 2025 we interviewed and selected People Come First Construction for a deck project. The company required, and we paid, $10,940.11 up front. We were told to expect to review designs and would have a cost estimate within 3 to 4 weeks. As of July 7th (8 weeks elapsed), we haven't received anything, and apparently no work has been completed on the project according to the company. We notified the company that we wished to cancel the project with them, and requested a refund of $10,000. The company has not refunded us. Here is a timeline breakdown:May 7: paid company $10,940 to start deck project with salesperson ***** ******.May 27: notified by production manager ***** ********** that **** ********* would be reaching out to conduct a ***** scan for measurements required for the project.May 30: Company informs us they are conducting property research and drafting site plan. They do not inform us what "property research" is, and I had already submitted to them a copy of the plot of our property with septic system diagram at their request on May 7th. No ***** measurements had been taken, so I do not see how they are able to do anything to draft a site plan outside of the details I had already provided them.June 6: **** ********* finally reached out to let us know he would be coming by June 10th for the ***** scan. Also June 6: ***, CAD technician, introduces himself and tells us he will be providing updates.June 10: **** ********* conducts ***** scan at our property.June 13: *** notifies us that they are currently processing the ***** scan and once finalized will begin modeling phase.June 27: *** notifies us that project is in modeling queue. At this point I enqure when we can expect to get a cost estimate of the project. I am told there are no designs made and no way to get an estimate.July 3rd: *** informs us the team is "actively working on our project". No results yet.July 7th: we notify company that we are canceling and request refund.
