I worked with Navis Pack and Ship (as did my great uncle) to transport fine art that we inherited from my grandmother. We worked with them because they move fine art and were not comfortable shipping ourselves via *** or other carriers. Navis required that we insure the artwork (which is fine) and that one of my pieces be crated and "overnighted by air" due to its high value. The rest of the pieces were to be packed, palleted and shipped by truck. The piece that they required me to have crated and air shipped ended up not being a one or two day shipment but a three plus day shipment and was supposed to require a signature to receive. They ended up using a 3PL (***) which was not made known to me and the delivery driver delivered the artwork to the wrong house. They left it outside a courtyard gate, in full view of the road, did not ring the doorbell or ask for a signature. The only reason I found the art and didn't have to file for an insurance claim of $20,000 (which is only half of the arts value) was because I recognized my neighbors yard in the image. I immediately contacted Navis and they said they would not provide any form of refund for this gross mishandling. Again, it was shipped and delivered to the wrong house, no signature required. I worked with them to ensure my grandparents valued art pieces would be treated well and arrive professionally and they delivered it to someone else and then just told me ya, that can happen. Their entire company charter is around shipping high valuable products and yet they don't care if they are not delivered!? My uncles artwork was delivered to their driveway and the driver didn't even ring the doorbell or ask for a signature. Again, it could have been the wrong house (luckily for him it wasn't) but why ship through a professional art shipping company if ****** treats product deliveries better? We could have gone to *** and paid a 1/20th of the price ourselves.
