My 2 year old son was evaluated by Katie via telehealth for a frenulum tie diagnosis. I am now being charged for a swallow evaluation that I do not believe was completed, much less by required guidelines. I feel as though I was mislead about what the appointment would entail and am being taken advantage of. I have requested information about how they believe the swallow evaluation was performed and have not been given said information. I have other complaints about things that were said to me during the appointment and had been told by my childs regular speech therapist that she would reach out to Katie to help me handle the situation and I did not realize she hadnt. I do acknowledge that I took too long to handle the situation, I may have my reasonings for what caused my delay, however that is not their responsibility and by no fault of the business.

I'm so sorry you were disappointed by the evaluation. ********** will always have its restrictions. Luckily I was able to see swallowing when your kiddo arrived on screen eating a banana, of course more footage would have been nice and more thorough but, I was able to see enough as well as his saliva swallows. There are different levels of swallowing evaluations, clinical and of course more in depth using X-ray, etc. This was the most basic level and I still feel ethical with the description and the coding (which is necessary for insurance reimbursement if you were to pay your bill and submit to medical insurance for reimbursement). Every speech language pathologist has different recommendations for language learning. Sometimes children who have the ability to use verbal language end up relying on sign language--I'm open to what the family feels is best, but do see strides forward in language use when signs are not used as frequently. Just what I've seen in the last 7 years of practicing with thousands of children. I understand you're not going to pay your invoice. When we left the appointment, you were laughing and happy and we ended it on a very positive note. When I called to remind you of your invoice, you originally said you didn't have any money and THEN you started to complain about the appointment. It feels like you may be using this is an excuse not to pay your invoice as you seemed pleased with the appointment during it. This is hurtful to my small business and frustrating as a provider, but in the spirit of Christmas, I will tell the collection agency to cease and you can make that decision on your own. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do. Blessings, Katie

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not appreciate the assumption that my dissatisfaction is an excuse. Which is absolutely not true. The morning of that phone call was a bad time for me and I handled it poorly. Again, I had been under the impression that my childs speech therapist was going to assist me in handling this, which is why I did not handle it sooner. It should not have taken this step for you to provide me with the information I requested about the swallow evaluation.

    Sincerely,
