May/June 2022 NLR removed a slope and added a retaining wall in my backyard. They bid and accepted work to do a concrete pour, but never followed through. I had to find another company on my own who recently finished the work. The time to find a new company and get scheduled caused the delay in discovery.Wall length, approx. 80ft with right angle returns, one on each end. When the concrete crew (L&S) was prepping the ground (5/26), they discovered that the wall was not level from one end to the other, the base level of wall blocks was too high, what should have been right angles were not, and those same returns were leaning (due to poor construction) to the point of being unstable. I immediately called the owner of NLR (Sr.) and advised him of the situation. I had the two companies talk directly to each other to ensure all technical concerns were described accurately. Pictures were sent same day.Sr. asked how much it would cost to have L&S re-do the returns. There was no mention of having NLR come to my home to evaluate the situation nor is that specified in the contract. I knew using L&S to do the rework was going to be quickest and eliminate further delays as the concrete truck was already scheduled. Since Sr. had introduced the idea of L&S to do the rework, I made the reasonable assumption that this would be an acceptable path forward and I gave the green light.6/6 sent before/after pictures of returns and the cost - advised to reach out to son (***) - I did so same day. *** said he didn't have time for a call but to send the pictures - sent.6/8 texted for status; pushed off until 6/9 6/9 spoke to Jr., advised he'd need to talk Sr. and would get back to me.6/12 texted for update - no reply.6/13 called Jr. and then he called me back. Advised he wouldn't pay "a single *****" as I made the decision to have the work redone and "everyone knows the company who did the work has to come out to investigate".Contracts, costs, pictures, etc. attached.
