Requested service on a tankless water heater. They quoted $289 to come out and identify the issue. They performed maintenance and said I needed a ignitor replacement part. They called the next day and said they had to special order the replacement part and it would cost $285. I asked for a copy of the special order invoice. I received a call from the service manager and they do not give out that information. It turns out they set up a fake parts supplier and charged me $285 for a part that I could get on Amazon for $13.99. I can't complain about the service but I am disappointed that a supposedly reputable company would take advantage of customers like this. I hope that this review will help others to ask questions before committing to over priced parts.

Thank you for your feedback and for expressing satisfaction with our service. Were sorry to hear about your disappointment with the pricing of the replacement part needed to resolve your heating issue.
You mentioned finding a part on ****** for $13.99. After review, we can confirm that the part you referenced would not have been compatible with your appliance. The specific component required for your system includes three electrodes and a mounting plate tailored to your unit. This level of specificity is critical to ensuring a proper and lasting repair.
At Janes Radiant, we do not manufacture equipment or replacement parts. We have to source high-quality components from reputable wholesale parts outlets across the country. While online retailers like ****** may offer generic parts, they rarely stock the specialized components required. Our team often collaborates with manufacturers and conducts thorough research to identify and obtain the exact part needed, which can take time, especially when local supply stores lack the necessary inventory.
As a service-based business, our pricing reflects more than just the cost of the part itself. It encompasses:
Research and Sourcing: Identifying the correct part and coordinating with manufacturers or suppliers.
Freight: Shipping costs for specialized components, often expedited to ensure timely repairs.
Installation and Expertise: Skilled labor to ensure the repair is done correctly.
Warranty Coverage: Our robust warranty to guarantee long-term performance and peace of mind.
Operational Costs: Travel to and from your location on the island, fuel, vehicle fleet maintenance, insurance, and fair wages for our dedicated team.
Sustainability: A modest profit margin to maintain our business and continue serving our community.
We are confident that our pricing aligns with industry standards and is comparable to other service providers in the area. Had we known about your concerns earlier, we would have been happy to discuss these factors with you directly to provide transparency and avoid any misunderstanding and a negative review with the Better Business Bureau.

I worked in the construction industry for 40 years including 25 years with a national design/build firm. Our purchasing department would never allow a subcontractor to submit an invoice from a fictitious parts supplier as well as not listing the part number. I tried to get the exact part number from ****** but they did not respond. The parts you replaced (which I documented with photos) are very similar to the Amazon parts - one small mounting plate and three electrodes. As a professional I would not expect you to buy parts from ******. I would not expect you as a professional to hide costs in your invoice to me. Even though some of your ******** are legitimate I believe that you overcharged me for the parts. I agreed to pay the invoice and am not asking for any reimbursement. I am concerned about how many other people have been overcharged. I will take your response into consideration as I debate whether to file a complaint with the ****************************************.
