After purchasing a hearing aid for $2,800 ($2,500 to be covered by health insurance) I returned it nine days later. (May 28 hearing test and purchase, picked up June 11, and returned hearing aid on June 20, 2024) After four days the right speaker went out, and I was told they are designed for six months service, cost $175 to replace (with a new six-month warrantee). The hearing aid warranty period ends after two years. I receive a $300 check in the mail, from Sound, four days later, on June 24th. On July 29th I received invoice # ****** for $315.00: - Comprehensive audiometry threshold evaluation and speech recognition $165 (No speech recognition testing ever occurred) - ****************** Visit (***** mins) $130 - Tympanometry (???) $50 - Insurance/Contractual ($30) ( I believe this was billed in bad faith, and erroneously paid) None of these charges were ever discussed or agreed to. This bill is a complete surprise and totally unexpected. My efforts on July 30th, were met by a return phone call from the receptionist (******). I explained that I was filling a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General, BBB, and State Insurance Commissioner, and was gathering the pertinent information. I have not heard back from the requested manager. Please ask Sound Audiology & Hearing Aids to remit a new invoice showing a zero-balance due, and return the $30 erroneously billed to my health insurance. An apology, although owed, is not expected. This letter has also been shared with Sound, via text.
