I contracted this company for solar 11/8/2024. It has been 7 months and I have no solar panels. The owner is uncommunicative, has made countless excuses as to why the project hasn't been completed. We decided not to continue with the installation due to it taking so long and due to the excuses being so suspicious. When we signed the contract there was a good faith estimate of the time it would take given to us and we are well past that by now. Every month since January I have been promised an install date for the following month, all postponed for suspiciously convenient reasons. May 8th 2025 was our firm install date. Conveniently the crew supposedly got in an accident, sprawling the materials for our project across the highway. I have seen no proof of this occurring. No one returns phone calls in a timely manner, getting accurate information is impossible. We decided to cancel the project because we suspect the owner is lying to us and he has become extremely difficult about returning the money to the lender. He says it takes time, then he told the lender he is waiting to find out a restocking fee(there is no restocking fee in our contract). He will not tell us anything about how much he is returning to the lender, when he is returning it, or if he is returning it at all. My daughter left negative reviews on my behalf that reflect our horrible experience with the company and now he is threatening to sue her for defamation as well. This could be as simple as honoring the cancelation agreement as outlined in the contract. I wish to be completely done with this company but I'm not letting him keep $16,000 of my money to facilitate that. I don't believe he has any intention of returning a single dime, and I don't believe he has been honest with me at any point during this process. The owner blocked my *********** daughter's and now refuses to communicate via email as well. He's holding me hostage.Business Response

I am truly sorry that you feel your experience has not been the best. However, let us clarify some things up front. First off you have not been blocked from contacting the company. You have been calling Mr. ********* private number. Which you were blocked from because of the consistent harassment you have been putting him through. Every time he answers his private number and it's you or your daughter the language, pure harassment, and personal threats are no longer going to be tolerated. The company number is on the contract you signed, however please know that we will not tolerate you calling and harassing members of our staff either. Your use of racial slurs including the N-word will not be tolerate in anyway. Second, your cancelation policy is on the contract you signed which is a legal document so you do have access to all that. Third, you know that we are in contact with the finance company to refund them any money that is owed because you have been sent the screen shots which Mr. ******* has showed me. The truth is you have been wanting to cancel ever since ***** got elected because you have said on many occasion that you think you should sell your house and leave the country. I understand now that talking you down from that was a mistake and we should have just let you cancel then. Of course, we had no idea that you and your daughter would start such a false smear campaign against us. However, with all that said we are absolutely working with the finance company to get this matter dealt with as soon as humanly possibly so we can just move on from you and this situation. We are just working through the cancelation policy with the finance company. It will be upheld because so far we have done the site survey, engineering, permitting, got materials, and installed your ev charger. We did not do all this work for free because you don't like the president.

I am rejecting this response because:Everything in the response is patently false, and frankly libellous. *o one has harassed ****, no one has threatened ****, no one has used the * word. That is absolutely ridiculous, and **** needs to prove his claims of racism and harassment. I have never spoken to whoever reportedly wrote this. The finance institution has access to the record of all communication that has occurred between **** and myself and my daughter. This is an abhorrent way to run a business. I can absolutely not imagine going to these lengths. The business should be ashamed of themselves. This does nothing to deter us from escalating through the proper channels. *either I, nor my daughter have anything to hide. All we want is our money back.
In discovery, phone records will show that we have never spoken to anyone at the office for any length of time.
This response has been documented and will be forwarded to the attorney general and my personal attorney.
Sincerely,

There is no point in going around in circles. We have already said multiple times that YOU ARE NOT OWED ANY MONEY! The money belongs to the finance company, the finance company is who paid us the down payment. The finance company will receive the refund minus the ** charger that was already installed and the cancellation policy that you agreed to when you signed the contract.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:After several months of requesting this money be returned to the lender, **** ******* and Universal Electric PNW has failed to return a dime of the funds to the lender, a fact which I have documented extensively through contact with the lender. **** ******* and Universal Electric PNW's general contractor license continues to be suspended, meaning that there is no legal way for the contract to be completed. **** ******* up to this refuses to cancel the contract formally or commit to refunding the money to the lender, and continues to escalate the situation via defamation, including accusations that I am liable for fraud for pursuing a claim against his bond for services not rendered. Universal Electric PNW is committing defamation per se. I am in contact with an attorney and will be pushing for damages to the full extent that the law allowed. If Mr. ******* is unwilling to return the funds to the lender within 10 business days of receipt of this message we will be delighted to see him in court.

In September of 2024 Universal Electric installed a solar system on our home. Upon completion of setup we noticed that 1 panel does not report in our solar system. We've contacted Universal Electric multiple times to get this issue resolved and we keep getting the runaround. I have sent numerous emails, called them, texted them but they have not prioritized getting this issue resolved. We have gotten numerous promises from them but to date the issue remains. The company does not do as they say they will and does not provide adequate support for the products that they install.Business Response

Mr. *****,
I apologize that you feel this way, I know since the install was completed we have made every effort to fix your monitoring issue. Universal Electric has sent a crew out multiple time and have replaced the solar panel, microinverter, and all wiring to the solar panel in question. At the end of our last appointment we verified that the micro inverter and solar panel were producing but it was not showing up on the software you use to monitor the production, We at each appointment involved the company that provides the software to try to correct the data discrepancy and have even still been harassing them for some type of solution. Universal Electric PNW has spent thousands of dollars to try and fix the issue caused by the software at no additional cost to you, and we are still dedicated to try and find a solution. We have been and will be in contact with you once the company that provides your software for monitoring gives a solution to correct their issue.
Thank You

I am rejecting this response because:My primary concern remains unresolvedthere has been no follow-up regarding scheduling the next steps. . I have sent no less than 20 emails over the last 6 months requesting updates, resolution and follow-up. Most of those emails have went unanswered. The last email I have from Universal Electric was on January 26th. It is now March. How is that reasonable?
Also, to my knowledge, the solar panel has not been replaced, just the micro-inverter. The QCable is what Enphase has solutioned as the next step. We have been awaiting scheduling since early February.
According to your own technicians, the necessary parts (new Qcable) have already been shipped to Universal Electric, and your service technicians have informed me that they have repeatedly requested to have me put on the schedule. Despite their efforts, it appears they have yet to receive a response for scheduling from Universal Electric PNW management. This lack of follow-through has left the issue in limbo.
While I understand the complexity of the problem, I need confirmation on when the next service appointment will take place. Please provide an update on scheduling as soon as possible so we can move forward. I look forward to your prompt response.Sincerely,

Bought solar panels, had them installed with a battery and inverter box. Solar panels seems to be working but they are not sending energy to our **************************. So no change in our electric bills. We brought the issue up immediately and have been getting excuse after excuse for the last 9 months of why they are unable to come complete the job. One day they had car trouble the next week someone is sick. The next month someones on vacation, the next month they have to hire a new person. We are clearly being ghosted and now they are not responding to emails, phone calls, or texts. We have already paid 100% of the cost and yet we have a product that is not workingBusiness Response

United Solar designed and sold you your system, at the time we were just subs for them. We installed what they designed. Your system was inspected and test by Labor and Industry and ******************* I have submitted the paperwork for that to the BBB. It passed all inspections and was granted PTO (permission to operate) by ******************* You said yourself the solar was working. If you are not seeing a change in your bill, then maybe you are still using to much power. Maybe they designed a system for you that didn't account for all your offset and you approved it (because the customer has to approve the design before a company can move forward). I really don't know because as I said before we were just the subs for United Solar when you were sold your job and the design was made. We have in no way been ghosting you. When we spoke in December (which proves we are not ghosting you), you were advised to call Solark tech support which we gave you the number for and ask them if a software update had altered your setting, as we have had that issue with other Solark clients. You were also advised to reach out after the first of the year if Solark was unable to provide a solution. Reaching out to us is not putting a false review on the BBB that is not at all what we meant. We were thinking more like a phone call, email, text message. Since you are having issues reaching us we will reach out to you using one the method I just pointed out (call, text, email) and schedule an one time free service appointment to check United Solar's design and verify it is working.Initial Complaint

We needed solar batteries installed in our home. The salesman who no longer works for the business promised that they would install the batteries in 2-3 months. I paid a 60% deposit of $13,123.20 on 8/23/24. Eight months have gone by, and there has been limited communication from the business. I reached out to the principals - and both reassured me that the installation would take place before the end of the year. With the end of the year approaching, I haven't received any communication or updates regarding the installation. I requested the deposit to be refunded, and the business has not responded. All calls and emails remain unanswered.I have copies of all emails from the salesman and the principals to support my case. The deposit was paid with a credit card, and I've the receipt in my possession.I want this resolved with the assistance of BBB of WA without taking formal legal action.Business Response

Hi Mr. ********************* We apologize for any inconvenience. The battery you ordered have been on back order. We understand why you are upset and even though your contract has no set install date. We have reached out to the supplier to cancel the order and get a refund. We will reach out to with all the details.

I am rejecting this response because:The contract I signed might not have had a hard install date, but the salesman who represented your company as an agent promised that the batteries would be installed by 12/31/24. Your principal - **** ******* - confirmed on 11/19/24 via email "Yes, Our goal is to have it installed well before December 31st". I had made myself very clear that I wanted the batteries installed by 12/31/24 so that I could avail the 30% federal tax credit for which I had planned throughout the year.
Your batteries might be on backorder, and I don't care. I don't want the batteries installed in 2025. Your communication with me has been dismal. No one from your company called to explain the situation. My calls and emails were being ignored.
All I'm requesting is a refund of my deposit. Just for your information, I've initiated a dispute with **************** regarding the deposit charge and explained the entire situation. If **************** gives me credit for my deposit, please consider that you've refunded my deposit.
Sincerely,
**** *******Business Response

It is not our fault that the batteries were on back order. We canceled the order and were waiting on the refund when you decided to get your money back from ****************, which actually effects the cancelation policy in your contract. We tried to communicate with you multiple times and you said you were out of the country until Jan 25th and didn't want to talk until then, it is currently Jan 17th. We have been trying our best to honor what you want, but unfortunately it is clear that you will be unhappy no matter what the happens at this point. The order has been canceled and you will get the refund you are due as per the contract you signed.Initial Complaint

This company was contracted to install a sub-panel and battery solution, and the work intially was scheduled for Mar 29th, 2023.Half down payment was negotiated. There was an excuse of not being able to get the materials. Since there have been similar excuses for not getting the materials. I have contacted them several times to get this work done with no response at all from them. They appear to be non-responsive to processing a refund or completing the contracted work.Business Response

I would like to first address that ************** did not at any time sign a contract with Universal Electric PNW. He signed with United Solar on 6/6/2023 and paid them in full in july of 2023. The owners of United Solar, who were **************, ***********************************, ***************************** and ******************************* received the full payment for the ***** project and spent it unknown to us at Universal Electric PNW.
We at Universal Electric did not receive the ***** project until November 2023 with the understanding that Half the contract value would be paid to Universal to cover the materials and labor.
************** was fully aware that he had already paid United Solar in July in full and did not inform us of this when we started, in fact when I went over the install, inspection, and PTO process reminding him that once electrical inspection was passed you would have to notify the financial institution "Verity" to release funds, he literally responded that it wouldn't be a problem, that he would have his wife who it was financed under instantly contact them to do so. So while we installed the two systems on his house and shop during the worst weather this last winter he was aware the entire time that my company was not going to get paid. While we hand dug a 100 foot ***** in the rain and snow because the rental company couldn't make it to his house, as we cut through the asphalt to run the conduit to the second structure he was fully aware that I was going to have to pay for all the solar equipment and labor out of my companies pocket with no return. And once we were done he so casually gave me the bankers email address to invoice who we invoiced and they replied with not only was statement paid to the other company who no longer existed but with the email chain where you told "Verity" almost 6 months before i meet you to go ahead and pay the other company in full. Proof you were aware that I was going to get no compensation for my company's efforts. With the situation as it was I took the * and I did not have to.
Regardless, I sent 3 employees to his residence to back fill the ditch, commision his system, and assess the necessary wall patch. First I'd like to address the contract he signed with the individuals who are no longer around. The contract he signed with them clearly states they were not responsible for sheetrock repair or landscaping damage needed to install his systems and we were offering to do it as a courtesy. As far as the manuals, we not only left them with ************** when we did the install, but the crew brought additional ones when they came and commissioned the system. I also sent a digital copy of the manual as well, and a screenshot of the solar systems production over several days. As far as the sheet rock and asphalt, the individual I had contracted to do the work who'd arrived when my employees were filling the ditch refused to do the work because he was so rude to the three gentlemen literally using profanity and degrading them while they worked. One of them called me while on site and let me hear him berate them, that they were working too slow and if they were smarter maybe they'd be done already. Of Course he used more colorful language. If that is how he was going to treat my employees and people I contract to do work I will not send another person to his residence as those individuals had since refused to return and work in a hostile toxic work environment.
**************, is not going to get any help treating people like this, being rude or bullying people or companies is not acceptable. ************** has since left untrue harmful reviews on multiple platforms including the BBB trying to force my company which have already caused us to lose business. Our solar projects range from $15,000.00 to $100,000.00 so it's hard at this time to measure how much damage ************** has caused while enjoying the benefits of a solar system that he did not have to pay anything to Universal Electric PNW for. I do find the comments unfair and bordering on slander, which is unfair for a small business to suffer.
I will also attach statements from the two of the individuals who were subject to ****************** abusive behavior who are employees still with the company and the email chain from "Verity". I will also copy and paste the information here as well

I am rejecting this response because:Several things that *********************** said in his response are completely inaccurate.
We did not know that United Solar went out of business or that they didn't pay Universal Electric for the work that they United Solar contracted Universal to do.
We did not contract with Universal, United Solar did.
We were informed on 9/4/2023 that United Solar was being acquired by ***********************.
Hello ****,
This is ***** from United Solar and I just wanted to give you a quick update.
We have changed ownership!
We are super excited to have been acquired by our main Sub *********************** and to be merging with his company Universal Electric PNW.
This does not affect your project in any way other than that right now we are transitioning and re-organizing our company management.
Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns at any time but do know that we are working on our scheduling and your install is on the way.
I will get back to you next week with an update on your permit approvals and scheduling and timeline.
Thank you for your patience and for trusting us to install your Solar System.
Please feel free to text me or call anytime on my personal line **************.Cheers,

***************************************This was an email that we received from ******************* on Sept. 4th 2023
Our project didn't get started until 12/14/2023 and was supposed to only take 3 to 5 days to complete.
Universal sent us a request for payment on Feb 2nd 2024.
We asked ******************* to send them payment and asked it the payment had already been paid.
Here is the reply we got.
We paid United Solar in full on June 23 2023 $70,926.69. Then the check was re issued July 6th 2023 for the same amount and they cashed that check/it cleared their bank on 7/10/2023.
They have been paid in full.

Sorry about that ****, the jobs are normally paid 50/50 and this one happened to be 100% up front, so the invoice went out like normal, it just wasnt necessary in your case. I spoke with ***** and **** earlier and confirmed that were waiting on SnoPUD and then will get your system fully activated and monitored.

*************************At no time during this project were we informed that United Solar went out of business or that the sale of United Solar to Universal Electric fell through or that they didn't pay Universal Electric for the contracted work.
What we got from ****'s email is that it wasn't necessary to have to pay this bill as stated above. Nothing was said to us about any of this until I got the following email from **** on March 19th 2024.

**************,
Sorry for the lack of communication but we have been dealing with alot of legal matters since your project after discovering that United Seattle had misrepresented the status of your project during the purchase of United Solar. Since then the contract for the acquisition of United Solar has been Voided and at this time Universal Electric PNW holds no responsibilities or obligations to your project.
Even so I will find another copy of the SolArk owners manual for you and I still will have the sheetrock repaired at no cost to you. I would like to get someone out wednesday 3/30 if possible. Please respond as soon as possible.
I am sorry for the frustration of the situation and we will help where possible but understand that in some cases our hands are legally tied now.
***********************This was my response to **** on 3/20/2024: This was also sent to ************************* and *******************************.
Hello ****,
I am sorry to hear that you are having legal issues and I hope that you get them resolved.
I will be available on March 30th for the drywall repair.
But if I am reading your email correctly you are telling me that you are not going to repair my driveway nor finish the set up of my Sol Ark app for system monitoring?
Is this correct?
Because from our standpoint these are all things that you have already been paid for and was in our purchase agreement.
(Sorry about that ****, the jobs are normally paid 50/50 and this one happened to be 100% up front, so the invoice went out like normal, it just wasnt necessary in your case. Any legal problems that you are having with United Solar dont have anything to do with us or the project that you started.
We had no knowledge of any issues between your companies, and they are not our problem.
All we knew is that you were contracted to do the project and we discussed this before you even started.
We have acted in good faith with you and your company from the beginning, even with all of the delays and miss or non-communication.
In closing we fully expect that you will finish the project that you have been paid for.
If you are not going to finish, then you need to let me know who is.
Any miss representation that you feel has happened did not come from ***
You were fully aware of the whole project at the beginning, you and I personally talked about the driveway.
We need you to let us know when to expect repair of the driveway and getting my App set up, which I was told it should have already happened from your guy on 2/28,
when they came to fill in the ditch.
Please let me know.I sent a follow up email on 5/03/2024 with no response and another one on 7/9/2024 with no response.
I didn't get a response from **** until I filed this complaint with the BBB and Washington State Attorney General on 7/31/2024.
Several other things that **** stated are also in accurate about the work.
Was I upset at the lack of progress and length of time it took to get this work done, yes I was.
The lack of communication and showing up to the job with out all the necessary equipment was very frustrating for not only me but your own employees as well.
They complained that this happened quite frequently, and when asked why they had to did the ditch by hand they told me that you wouldn't rent rent a machine to do the work with.
I was told by **** that he was going to have someone come out to repair the driveway and no one ever did.
Sincerely,
