On 8/7/2024 entered into a contract with u.s.a. greenbuilders to replace fascia board around house replace chimney enclosure on roof and new deck and landings to driveway with trex with railing using either newtechwood or trex. Project to start on 8/ 13/2024 with completion in 14 days. Cost to be ***** paid in installments. 5000 to start then 2 more of 8000 when certain work is completed and final of ***** when completed to my satisfaction. Project leader stated he had ************************************************** driveway for demo work, with a Porta potty for crew. Work started next week, but with only 3 people and no dumpster. All demo was put in driveway and stated that way for several weeks until work crew brought own truck to remove demo material. We're told all materials for work would be ordered so when ready to proceed they can pick it up. That never happened. Wrong materials were picked up. ****** board the workers picked up-about 20 boards were being primered for use when found out they got the wrong boards. Had to replace, but couldn't return ones that were primered. The chimney enclosure was done in beveled cedar as is the rest of the house. Tried to use t-111siding instead said he couldn't find beveled cedar even though he saw that when giving estimate for job.they ended up using beveled ****** ***** boards which is fine. Deck was completed but several things are wrong. Landings are not straight.. one goes to left next one to right. Steps are not same height which causes people to misstep.treads are not same distance shorter on one side than other. Still no railing after complaining about deck. Came out to inspect said it will be corrected when putting in railing. Several calls have been made to company no results. Even call from someone who said he was upper management and it will be completed in 1 week.that was on Oct 28th. It's now Nov 5th and no further response or communication from greenbuilders. Even signed and Said it would be done 9/16/24

I get a text with saying they are going to fix but they don't show.. I call office with no return call I just got another text after another no show that they want to cut and patch.. that's not acceptable..I didnt spend all that money to have patches all over... **** ******* has been in contact with USA Green Builders to correct this issue. The project manager has been out to the deck with a crew to assess the work and the fixes that were implemented after **** brought this issue to our attention. We understand that she and her husband are still unhappy with the repairs that have been made to the deck.

We continue to try and find a way to fulfill the Johnsons expectations, correcting the work that has been done so far. The Johnsons happiness is an ongoing issue that we are determined to satisfy.

This business called by phone. Over the phone I agreed to meet at my address as per the caller on the phone. A contract was signed at the house. The job was not completed. Also I was treated like I was stupid the entire time by the owner wrangling project manager she also tried to seduce me. During this time period two other men tried to get me to finance the rest of the work on the house as the house is in disrepair from my fathers neglect. I am his son picking up after his mess now mine. I have spent the last four years struggling to resolve his estate since his death. I was threatened with the contract and they said that they would take the house if I did not pay. I was never told when or what time the work was going to happen. There was complaint to me by this company with the existing home as it was my fault. After I figured out they were trying to take me for everything I had i realized they were a predatory company looking for homes just like my fathers house.

Mr. ***** this complaint that was sent to BBB from our work on your house in May was quite a surprise to us.
Our response to this is as follows: you met with our project manager May. May is very respectful of others and always keeps a professional demeanor. That you have accused her of trying to seduce you will be handled separately and legally.
Once you showed her the job that needed to be done at the house, she recognized the complications with the job she invited a supervisor of the company to evaluate what would need to be done and how best to get it done.
The work was complicated due to the condition of the whole house as you acknowledge in your complaint, and in particular the instability of the roof and porch. You signed a contract on May 30th, 2024, and paid a deposit of $1000.00
During the time of the work, you met with May and the owner of the company because of your desire and request to do a complete renovation of the house.  When you said that you dont have the finances, we let you know that we utilize two of the biggest, most respected and financially advantageous companies, Synchrony or Solar to work with if you chose. You explained that you were not interested in financing, so the matter was dropped. No one threatened or pressured you in any way. We did not mention taking your house.

We finished the work based on the contract that you signed. This was done to your satisfaction within 5 weeks. On June 4th you paid the final payment by certified check.  Two weeks after paying in full you signed a certificate of construction completion, dated June 24th. We are providing accompanying photos of the work done, contract and the completion certificate.

At no point in the following 2 months since then did you contact anyone in the offices to complain or seek a refund.

      Complaint: 22299300

I am rejecting this response because:
      1. There were multiple piles of the old roof that were identified multiple times that were not removed.

      2. Also in the scope the yard was to be cleaned up. The yard was not cleaned up.

      3. Two of the three photos are of the house. The other is not. This shows the poor attention to detail of your employees. When doing paperwork.

      4. There is trash left from the crew that did some of the work. Food and job waste.

      5. There was building that I was not made aware of on something unrelated to the house.

      6. After I fired the company, they dragged there feet an entire week beyond when I fired them for breech of contract. Before I was allowed any paperwork to close the contract.

      7. supervisor or whoever also leveraged me with a test of my knowledge of the house and that there was not electricity or water in use at the property. This also was used to manipulate my decisions.

      8. your employees complained about the state of the house, this is the whole point of the contract to fix the ugly.

      9. As far as the request went it was not in writing, and was just conversation.

      10. Your employees did not listen to me. they were all about telling me instead. When I asked about anything they just gave me a redirect.

      11. Multiple meetings with your company resulted in me having to leave because your employees causing anxiety to the maximum. This took time off my life.

      12. Even while struggling through the end paperwork, the person was trying hard to sell me on more work.

      13. language was used as a barrier to keep me in the dark about what was going on with the project.

      14. I also had one of my tools stolen during the project.

      15. I was not told when the work crew was going to be working just a day no time. I asked that I be given the schedule when they were going to be there. Nothing.

      16. It also showed that there was no actual care for my business just money and how much can we steal and get away with.

V/r, yet extremely unsatisfied with how I was treated and the quality of work displayed.

We entered into a contract with the business on 9/25/2022, with work to be completed in 10 weeks. We have paid $233,000 to date on a $167,000 plus tax contract. The appliances and heaters were in addition to the contract price. We pre-paid for the appliances and heaters in October of 2022 and April of 2023 , being told they would be ordered and delivered immediately. A partial order of appliances was not delivered until May of 2024, and no order for the heaters has been placed at all.The construction is only 80% complete. The company has repeatedly promised "next week" for 18 months.

Out of all of these, the most concerning is the structural inspection.  The structure is at risk of collapsing under a snow load.  Beams are already deflecting under current load and there are missing brackets and beams.  I have included some pictures for your reference to understand the scope/scale of the unfinished work.

Here is a list of what needs to be done:

      - Delivery of inspection report by structural engineer and final inspection once corrections are made.

      - Install of steel brackets per design (related to above)

      - Install countertops

      - ************ capstone

      - Install stonework

      - Install appliances

      - Install crawl space vents

      - Plumbing finishwork

      - Install 1 missing downspout

      - Roof is leaking

      - Clean concrete after all work is completed

      Customer Answer

      Date: 01/21/2025

      Hello,

Following up on this, USA Green Builders has completely stopped replying, nothing since my last email.

I recently hired a structural engineer to come out and look at what has been built.  His report is below, it is at risk of collapse and was not built anywhere near standard building requirements.

      ****************

Im following up on the site visit I did earlier today to provide some additional feedback.

I thought about this a little more and ran some quick preliminary calculations for some of the beams based on the site-specific snow loading and measurements I took. Heres a quick summary of areas of immediate concern for current code required gravity loading (i.e. self-weight of the patio cover and snow loading).

4x8 Eave Beams the eave beams are at about 170% to 290% of the allowable load for the different locations of the patio cover. The allowable strength of wood beams in bending is approximately 2.16 times the expected strength, so the eave beams are at risk of failure.
o Possible repair depending on the given location on the structure, retrofits could include improving the knee braces and/or sistering another beam beneath the existing beam. This work could likely be done without having to deconstruct the existing patio cover.

4x8 Ridge Beams The 4x8 ridge beams are similarly overstressed (compared to the eave beams).
o Possible repair sister new beams beneath the existing ridge beams.

8x8 Horizontal Beams The 8x8 beam is at approximately 330% of the allowable capacity under the full required design loading. These beams are at risk of failure and should be temporarily shored and retrofitted or replaced with appropriately sized beams.
o Possible repair add web members and steel plate connections to create trusses or replace the 8x8 beams with larger beams. Note that the area where the two rooflines of the patio cover meet there are no sloped 4x8s at the roof, so additional posts would need to be added there (at 2 places) or addition beams and webs may be able to be added to create a truss, but this would be more challenging than the other locations to retrofit.

In addition to the above concerns at the primary gravity framing, the patio cover also does not appear to be detailed appropriately for lateral (wind and earthquake) loads. Additional retrofits would be required to improve the lateral performance of the patio cover.

We signed the contract for a replacement deck on June 1, 2022 and it was completed on June 20, 2022. The contract included the teardown of the old deck and replacement of the frame, deck and railing using TREX decking. It appeared to be done correctly when completed but in the last 11 months it has showed major issues: corners separating, bowing boards and separation from deck. We contracted ********* the manufacture of the material, and provided pictures of the deck. They wrote back that it was installed incorrectly (email attached to complaint). We have called USA Green Builders numerous times, been hung up on, left messages and got no return calls except once when their office thought we were looking for a bid. We would like them to come out and do the necessary repairs to bring the deck up to the standards that Trex provides for installation of their product or, failing that, reimburse us the cost to have a Trex authorized installer perform the repairs.

Contract signed on 7/18/22 for total bathroom remodel. $1,000 deposit paid. The work was promised to be completed by 8/5/22. As of today, work still remains incomplete and without reliable communication when it will be complete. A linen cupboard promised to be on order was never ordered. The shower pan was installed without drain hookup and stands with damaged wall areas after being torn out for connection. Replacement shower siding was promised for 9/6. A vanity promised to be installed on 9/ 6 has not been delivered. Glass for the shower, while promised, was not ordered in a timely way and now awaits delivery. Time and means of installation is a question. ****************** has been repeatedly accompanied by failure to communicate, misrepresentations, no-shows, and delays. Workmanship, in addition to the shower drain, has been unacceptable to include: cut water pipe; damage to ceiling under the bathroom; unprotected flooring; dirty work space; drywall on walls before the floor was installed; floor installed out of level; plumbing with plastic piping had to be redone and possibly compromised; drywall texture sprayed over plumbing and shower fixtures; electric fan installed without heat lamp as agreed. This has been the most unacceptable, frustrating, distracting and worrisome project I have ever encountered. I am left sad and angry. How does USA Green Builders compensate me for this kind of intentional infliction of distress and loss of use of parts of my home for a month ?

      To whom it may concern;

      As a response to the complaint # ******** that has been received by the Bureau on 9/7/22, we would like to respond by stating that;

********** ***** and USA Green Builders has been in contact with each other about the issues with his project.  On 9/8/22, we sent an owner over to discuss the particulars and to undertake repairing our relationship with him.  We are doing all we can to rectify the initial issues that he experienced.  To this end we decided to start nearly over from the beginning. Now just 11 days later with the new project manager his bathroom remodel has been redone head to toe and is nearly complete, we only await new glass reorder for his shower. He has been reassured that he is a valuable client in every way, he receives regular communication from his project manager and she is on top of every request and delivery.  ***** is pleased and has sent emails to the BBB to see how he can remove his complaint.  All of our jobs, no matter the size is important to us.
Please keep in mind that our values are honesty, good work ethics and we are always here to help.
