    On Weds. Apr. 15, 2024 I called Advance Relocation Experts and talked to *****************************. I told ****** that I was moving within the same city and needed an estimate. ****** provided me with a verbal quote of $85/hr. x 3 movers for $255/hr. and estimated that the move would take 4 hours including travel time for a total cost of $1,020. I went on to state that I wanted my furniture covered to prevent damage and ****** stated that that's included in the quote. I never received a written, itemized estimate from ******. On the day of the move, Fri. Apr. 26, 2024, ****** arrived with a 3 man crew and a contract showing that I already owed $510 for the 2 hour drive to my home. ****** went on to quote a total of 9 hours for the move and travel for a total of $2,295.00. When the movers arrived at the destination to unload, the lead mover presented me with a final bill of $2,391.71 which included ******** estimate of $2,295.00 plus an additional $96.71 for padding. After I complained, the additional charge was dropped The issues that I have with this move is that I never received a written estimate showing an itemized list of the costs. ****** underestimated the total time of the move including travel time. A move that was initially quoted to take 4 hours at $1,020.00 ended up being 9 hours at $2,295.00. I feel that the tactics and practices used by Advance Relocation Experts are similar to bait-and-switch schemes, whereby the seller purposely undervalues the service leading the consumer to believe one thing only for the seller to switch to a higher priced service upon arrival on the day of the move. I feel that ****** from Advance Relocation Experts engages in this kind of practice with a certain degree of confidence that he can pull this sort of thing on the day of the move with the client having little to no immediate alternative.
